Facebook still alive

I actually went to a speech a year or two ago that talked about our privacy on the internet. What the video said is true. Facebook and other sites online actually sells our information to companies like google so that they can directly market to your taste. I'm not too sure what else they do with the information but they do have an account created on each person that creates a sort of profile/personality so that they can know more about you then what you expect. Sort of scary I guess. Information in the wrong hands can really lead to some scary stuff I think.

That article does the issue a little justice but I can't find anything about the personality databases

I guess only part of Anonymous is behind this attack. Seems most of them don't agree with the attack. Part of me almost wants them to succeed. But I guess I rely on Facebook a whole lot more than I want to admit.

Why would anybody assume that their information is kept private if they post it on the internet? That's just stupid. It's the fucking internet.

this. people complain about sites giving away their information, when they willingly gave it away and agreed to a contract saying that the site was allowed to. it's your own fault, don't blame the people who know how to make money off of you.

this isn't half bad compared to some information selling. a few years ago while dealing with a cell phone company my dad gave address name etc like is normal. They then said he was denied since the address he gave didn't match what they had on record. it was a "wait wait wait, on record? I've never given my address to you before" moment. Turns out the address they had was the "concession x, lot x" (another way of writing your address) that he only has on his drivers license. obviously asked them how the hell they got that info as he's never once given that out. after a bit of effort finds out Ontario sells all the drivers license info to a third party company that in turn sells it to companies such as telus, bell, whatever. How terrible is that. The government of Ontario is selling your personal information to private companies. and it's not just your age name and hotmail account and what your 'like'/post like what facebook has to offer, it's a god damn lot of personal information.

I almost like the fact my infirmation is sold online. that way I get ads for things I'm actualy interested in, like ski stuff and longboards and car parts.
