Extracting a snapped binding screw, or fuqqq it just ride with one down

Last night tossed some old Rossi FKS 120s on some Bdog Edgeless. I salvaged screws from another P18 binding that were quite old, and in the process of putting them on, then double checking boot fit (first install) then taking them out, epoxying them in, a heel bolt snapped in the ski. In my whiskey induced haze, I screwed the rest on and called it a night.

Then I woke up at 3am. How the hell do you get this thing out! Or better yet - has any one ridden with one of these missing?

See photo - I put some expoxy in the hole. Ride it and find out?

depends how hard you are going to crash if the heel rips out, are you going to knock your front teeth out on a concrete ledge?

Pivots already have a pretty small mounting pattern, with 3 screws instead of 4 your kinda asking for problems.

that said getting that out is going to be a huge pain and will probably mangle the hole enough that you would need to use a heli coil to re use that hole.

Take the heel piece off and try using a screw extractor that you can find at a hardware store.

This is going to make your task much more difficult if you try to use a screw extractor. Even getting the screws that aren't busted out could be difficult. If a screw extractor doesn't work you may need to try and drill it out, but I'd anticipate killing a couple of drill bits.

Well Newschoolers you seem like a loose crowd but the overwhelming support to fix this issue resulted in doing just that.

went in at lunch, drilled out the snapped screw, tapped it out with an extractor. Epoxy hadn’t set - install was last night - so they came out easily and were reinstalled nicely.

so now, we’re in business. Epoxy will set by afternoon tomorrow and I’ll grind a concrete ledge for y’all and let you know what shape my teeth are in.

I have an underbite after all and am trying to fix it...

I'd remove binding, then punch it and use a LINKS drillbit to open it up for the pigdicks (screw extractor)

pivot narrow mounting pattern with 3 bolts? no bueno!
