External HD & Photos

To save much needed space, I just baught a 120GB external hard drive to throw some shit on there to save space on my MacBook, mainly photos. I got it, hooked it up, and tossed all the photos over to the hard drive, keeping them in the same folder, and deleted them from my computer So much space has been freed up! But, I can't view the pictures through iPhoto the way I could before. I can still view them through Preview through the external HD itself, but I'd really like to be able to have it through iPhoto again. Does anyone know what to do here? There must be something to change in the Preferences but I'm not sure what. I might just end up going to a Genius Bar. Thanks for any help.

go look around in iphoto preferences.
im sure there is a place t change the "save to file"
and just switch it over to the folder on youe external HD

If you move the entire "iPhoto Library" to the external drive while iPhoto is NOT running, when you launch it again you'll get a dialog saying it can't find the library, do you want to make a new one or use an existing. Select use existing and point it to your iPhoto Library folder on the external drive.

if i've already moved my photos to the HD, do i have to move them back to the computer and start over to do this?

Did you move just the pictures or the iPhoto library folder? If you move just the pictures you gotta go back and do the whole folder.

i moved the whole folder. i'll move it back and try it again in the way you told me and i'll let you know if it works or not.
