EVO vs Backcountry???

Hey guys I am new to this forum.
I have a question I would like to throw out there.
Which shop do you like more Evo or Backcountry.com? Both get a lot of rep. Both sites also have a good selection of products and good prices.
Personally I like both. Backcountry has the wider selection but Evo has more freeride skis which is what i am into.
Anyway would appreciate hearing what you guys have to say on this.

i prefer Evo because they seem to get involved in the action sports community more. But if youre looking for a place to shop, id just go with the one that offers u the best price for what u want

EVO is a local shop. It's just smart and sells online as well. You would have to be retarted not to have an online store in today's market. Sure it's good to buy from your local shop but I would rather have free shipping to my door then pay 5-10 dollars in gas to drive downtown, sit in traffic, find parking etc.

I agree. The online stores always seem to have better prices. And like you said the shipping is often free. And they alwasy have a better selection then local stores

Thats a tough one, Evo seems to have better deals on left over stock, but of course backcountry has the lifetime warrenty.

I live 3 miles from evo... So yeah. It's a fucking awesome store, and all the employees are really tight. Backcountry is also awesome though.

Backcountry.

Best return policy, great, 24/7 customer support, Free shipping to APO addresses, and they carry close to everything.

Backcountry has much better reviews and in depth info, but evo has the best prices, plus being from Seattle I got to say evo

both are great, but for me, I live in Washington, so i prefer backcountry cuz i dont have to pay sales tax, whereas EVO being a Seattle based company, I have to pay an extra 8% to EVO than i would to Backcountry.

if you see better prices on evo or anyhere than backcountry, chat in and ask to price match, and send the link. works most of the time.

both have very comparable prices and both have an outlet section for out of date models.

i believe i picked my skis at evo and bindings at backcountry outlet. both had deals on shipping and both arrived on time, maybe early.

I only buy stuff when it's a good deal, and Evo's sale prices even after coupons are generally higher and good deals are harder to find then they are at backcountry. I have gotten some deals from Evo though ($85 for PX12s), and a ton from backcountry.

agreed.

as for op: evo is great. good local shop, solid online presence.

the unlimited return policies of backcountry and REI are really slick (saved my ass on a few occasions), but it's brutal on everybody else.

if your local shop gives you a reason to support them, then do it!

understandably, some local shops suck and i wouldn't go out of my way to support them. but if you find a local shop with great service, appreciate that it's customers like you that'll keep them running and giving back to the community.

as for online shops, backcountry's return policy is phenomenal. i bought a pair of CRJs from them last spring and was beyond disappointed with the ski (call me crazy...). i was about to try and sell them for super cheap on craigslist this fall when i found out about their unlimited return policy. they asked for my order number and then immediately sent me everything i'd need to ship 'em back and get a full refund, despite the ski being mounted and riddled with (repaired) coreshots. now that's hard to beat...

I shop evo when it's something I can't get through my local shop or one of my hook up channels. Evo has been pretty damn good to me as far as shops go. Can't say anything bad about backcountry cause I've never ordered from them but that's mainly because the site looked a little generic a few years back and made me skeptical. That's a shame too cause after reading these posts it seems like they're a real legit company. It's amazing how much presentation factors into where ya buy huh?

I tend to purchase from Evo more because they always seem to have crazy sales...there's not many websites where you can pick up new skis for 200 dollars. Backcountry has their amazing return policy which let's me return anything I buy from them anytime which is fucking amazing; It's hard to decide which Is better tbh

Both are GREAT companies.

I receive gear equally fast from either company.

That said, I shop at EVO more typically because they have pretty low prices especially in their outlet. Sometimes BC can be a tad pricey.

Evo.com for sure.

They are way better to deal with than a large crappy corporate ski company like BC. BC can offer a better return policy because they are large enough that they can absorb the cost of returning used prodcuts.

Plus Evo does WAAAAAAAAAAY more for the ski and snowboard community.

just curious, what didnt you like about them? and damn thats a generous return policy, i would almsot feel bad doing that

Yep my friends skis from a couple years ago just snapped in half and backcountry took them back no questions asked.

BC is a big corporation that has the bank account to absorb the cost of a return like that. Everyone makes their own money and has the right to spend it where they please. I just choose to do that at Evo :)
