Every Graphic on my computer has vanished

Ok so i was looking for a new background for my computer and was about to click on the pic i wanted and I miss clicked and now all of the avatars for people on ns are missing and everything is white. please help me i'm lost. never happened before and i don't know how to get it back to normal. i'm on a mac help.
