Ever skied powder in park skis?

east coast, 8 inches of wet slop, was skied off after 2 runs. Those first two runs weren't bad except the lower half of the ski area was nearly flat and going any faster then 5 mph was tough.

revelstoke, 4 years ago (holy shit that went by fast)

50-70cm of new snow, im from ontario, i was riding 3 year old Line Invaders

best ski day of my life, regardless

It'll make you want to go backseat because its hard to stay afloat sometimes. Much easier to get stuck

I spent 9 years skiing pow on park skis as they were the only skis I had. If you can ski then you can ski powder on any type of ski - it's just harder work and you obviously can't surf and slash the way you can on pow skis. It definitely makes you a stronger skier if you can as it just becomes that much easier once you get something fatter under your feet.

that''s funny because one of the first times i skied pow was in line invaders (like a 150, and I'm 6ft) and it was soo tiring. A great day.

Its still fun. Park skis are probably better in pow than a lot of the skis they had 20-30 years ago, and pow was fun then too.

One day I borrowed a friends park ski to try it out ended up to be a decent pow day like 20inches overnight, I thought I was scrwed but it ended up not being to bad, it was diffrent it took more strenght to turn but it was still fine just not as fun as fat powder skis.

Question, I have some K2 alpine skis that are 72 underfoot mounted in the back. Then I have some Atomic punx 82 underfoot that are center mounted.

Which one do you guys think will be better for powder days?

Last Year in belleayre mt in ny about 6 inches...i was going pretty fast and i realized it was deeper on the side so i went of to the side and somehow my ski tips dug into the snow and i did like a front flip when the tips popped out.

skied pow in park skis for a while untill i got my EP Pros, after skiing those in pow and having the best ski days of my life, skiing pow in park skis makes me hate everything. lol

Yea, it's fine for like a day. But if you do it while on a vacation and you are lucky enough to ski powder all week, you're going to regret not having fatties by day 3. It's not so much about having tired legs which is very true, but your shins will hurt from leaning back to stay afloat in the powder. I had that happen in Jackson Hole, so I rented some fatties. It felt like I had a day of rest it was so much easier and I felt well rested after a long day of skiing with powder skis

rode 12 inches of fluff in killy's trees two seasons ago with invaders. still consider it one of my favorite days of skiing.

Yes its fine. Especially if they have rockered tips. like my park skis are similar to powder skis in almost every way except the width

I ski the farthest west coast mountain in NA... The pow is so heavy and such an annoyance to ski in. But if it doesnt get skied out fast it can also be one of the most enjoyable days with buddies if you dotn care about eating shit!

Yep, tried skiing deeper pow on some Rossi S4 Jibs....they are complete camber.

Okay, so the manufacturer claims they are "40% powder, 60% Park", and they have zero rocker. I almost literally died speedchecking a bc jump a few days ago because of this.

Camber fucks you over in powder, keep note. Haha

Yeah... they used to not make rocker pow skis, it was wild.

For real, I skied pow until i was 16 with 80 waist skis... pow skis are definitely more enjoyable.

Back in Quebec, powder in park was the day to try new tricks. You have to clear the jump and the inrun. At Blue, they closed the jumps and everyone left. Since you needed a park pass, the noobs stayed out. That was some pretty good pow.

Pow skis allow you to ski ontop of the snow to some extent. Skinnier skis just make you ski "in" the snow, so you have to tense your core a lot more to keep your balance centered. Aside from that the mechanics remain the same and it's not too much different.

i mush be getting old, im only 19 but nobody seems to remember that before 2006 we did exactly that, skied pow on park skis.

you guys do realize that skis use to be less than 80 underfoot right? lots of people have had the opportunity to ski pow on narrow sticks. i use to do it all the time on my dynastar concepts.

Get yourself a 90 waist ski and you can get enough float in a foot of pow. The ninthward mips I have made you back seat the whole time back in like 06 ish I think? Its been a while.

yes, it's difficult to keep yourself floating on the snow, especially if your ski resort is generally flat. oh and you go like 3 mph

i've skied 95 waist center mounted cambered park skis in like 2 feet of california powder, it was still unreal

I loved my concepts dude...looking at them right now..72 waist haha...pow was doable but rough. My k2 domains do pretty sweet in pow at 90 underfoot and full rocker. I got to ski so much fresh last year though I bought pow skis this year. But I would ride pow on my old Olin mogul skis if I had to.

fuck ya i have, face shots and dead legs fo days ! it was really fun on my mogul skis back in the day, now that was a workout haha, least i could get face shots in like 6 inches ha.

Well, it´s not mainly the width that matters but more the position of your bindings, therefore (center mounted) park skis are worse than race skis, because you will dig in your tips really fast

Got 6" of wet powder at giants ridge one day. Hucked my meat on everything, fell a lot but it never hurt.

Park skis are wide compared to what people skied in the 70's and 80's.

Dosn't matter what skis youa re on. Powder is always better.
