European X-Games

Looks like we might be finally getting a Euro version of the X-Games:

"Tignes is certainly one of the most progressive resorts in Europe and

its one of the most anticipated resorts in terms of events (Airwaves,

FWT...) and this news is big. The X Games is coming to Europe and doing

it in France (for the 1rst time its not in Switzerland or Austrian).

The first European X Games will be held in Tignes in March (between the

8th and 15th of March) Its has already been a long time that ESPN

has been looking to create a little sister to the American Queen, in

order to grow their market share into the Old Continent.

So its

done, the organiser Chris Schuster, told us that it's 90% ready to

role. So its not anymore a secret and we will talk more about it pretty

soon but be sure that downdays will be an essential part of the

expansion of X Games into Europe.

For info, this news means the end of the Tignes Airwaves after many years of good and loyal services.

"

Sounds good; just wish there was a more interesting resort to use than Tignes.

X games requires pipe and slopestyle at village level, so the spectators don't have to take lifts up the mountain to watch the games. This is rarely the case in Europe, and resorts which do, such as Davos, have been dropping the ball hard lately when it comes to freestyle. This might be one of the reasons why Tignes.

Avoriaz would have been a legit choice too though. Although neither Tignes nor Avoriaz have the high-profile showbizz appeal of Aspen.
