European ski passes?

I'm moving to northern Italy in January to study abroad for a semester and I'm trying to figure ski passes out. Anyone have any suggestions of mountains I should go to or passes worth buying ? I'll be pretty close to Switzerland and Austria too. Thanks!

If you could be more precise on the area it would be very helpful, however some notable resorts to go to are the Cervinia/Zermatt area, very good terrain of all kinds. Others are Livigno, Champoluc (small but sick powder) and others like Champery which would be a little further away.

Whatever is close. Learn the mountain and you'll have a good time anywhere. That said, Courmayeur if it's within regular driving distance.

Thanks! I'll definitely write those down. Hopefully I'll be in Ferrara, so about 3 hours from the boarders of both Austria and Switzerland. Anything close-ish to that or if there is some sort of ski pass that includes a handful of mountains even if they're farther away

Italy has way less snow than Austria and Siwtzerland. Also the parks are better here in Sitwzerland. Best parks in Italy are Livignio, Madonna di Campiglio and Schnastal. Skipasses prices are pretty cheep everywhere in Europe compared to the US.

Sick thank you! are there any ski passes that include more than one mountain you think is worth it? or a website that has them? Colorado has the Epic pass that has Breck, Keystone, Abasin, Vail, and Beaver Creek just in Colorado but also 2 more in California, one in Utah and one in Austria now. If there's some crazy pass like that in Europe id be down to buy it.

Also about how much are just day passes? I'm trying to make it to some of the freeride world qualifiers when I'm there if I can afford it.

Not sure about italy, but Switzerland has this thing called the Topcard. Its good for laax, davos, arosa and lenzerheide. Laax has the best park. But season passes are expensive like 1000, so they are only worth it if you go all of the time. Day passes are only like 30.

A day pass at laax for an adult is 65. Im pay the youth price, it is a lot cheeper if you are younger than 18. A day pass for me at laax is 45. There are places like Mythen, that do sell day passes for 30-40 francs though.

oh yea it would more expensive for me, I'm 19 so I'd be paying the 65+ francs a day I guess

If i get the full epic pass thats good in colorado I can also get 5 days at Verbier or Arlberg I think

Yeah, but strangely enough 45 franks is not 30 franks. And the OP would obviously be older than 18 since she will be studying abroad. Your advice is garbage.

To the OP, I would figure out which resorts are closest to you, as they are the places you are most likely to go. To be honest, travelling 2+ hours, especially in Italy, is not likely to be something you wanna do very often.

For austria get yourself the Salzburger super ski card or the Tiroler pass, both are for a big amount of resorts really good

Yea figuring out trains wont be easy, I need to meet people who live near the mountains who's couch I can crash on to ski for a weekend and not just a day.

NS will def be your friend in doing this.

But for accesability you should look at the Dolomites, especially the stuff close to Brunico, which will be the easiest station to get to. I'm not an expert in that region, but Alta Badia and Kronplatz have pretty legit parks. I also believe you can get a combined pass for the whole Dolomiti Superski Region, that will probably be a good pass to get.

oh sick! that pass sounds perfect

Know of any glacier type mountains open really late, like through June? Anywhere in Europe not just Italy? once my program ends I'm planning on staying around for a month or two

I would recommend going to Innsbruck, Austria and spend some time there. You can ski Stubai, Kaunertal and Hintertux from there. Kaunertal and Stubai closes around 1st june, but Hintertux stays open until early july. Innsbruck is the sickest city, everyone is there to ski, snowboard, climb, mountainbike etc, and everyone is super open and welcoming. In addition it's a big uni city, so theres always something going on if you wanna get down and party. I'm moving there in August, so if you need any advice, just hit me up.

Well hey if you want to check out nendaz, (same ski area as verbier but way more chill resort) I always got a couch for fellow ns'ers.

And aslong as im off work ill take you out

I lived in northern Italy by lake Como and Switzerland for the summer and the mountains are sick either way its a fun time.

That would be sick! I think I'm going to upgrade my epic pass to get the 5 days at verbier. Do you know if the freeride world qualifier stops there as well as the tour? I have one friend in the tour next year who i want to watch compete but if the qualifier stops there as well then I'll save my days for that.

no way I lived in Lecco for a summer a few years ago! definitely trying to go back and visit my host family

I'm trying to make some sort of Euro loop and visit friends in germany, denmark, and france so I'll try to go there on that trip! If I can afford it hah, maybe I'll end up just looking for a job.

oh and Sweden

My close friend in Denmark did a year abroad in steamboat and that's how I met her, but I met a lot of people from Denmark and Norway and Sweden in breck this year but I couldn't tell you all their names haha, there was a crew of them.

I live in Switzerland, skiing here is a waste of time, the slopes are horrible. You're much better of in Holland, Denmark and Belgium.

/thread

I definitely met a Maya but not sure I would recognize anyones faces though since I only ever met people with ski gear on haha.

Im pretty sure HIntertux is open 365 days a year. The park closes at some point in late june/ early july though. I mean its not really worth shredding a week there in summer (after the park is closed ofc) but you can always go for a day or so just to be on snow again!

Jibberino, fuck off, you are such a rude shit. You know fucking nothing about Switzerland, I go skiing every single weekend the resorts are open and sometimes longer, so you know shit. I ski with Alex Hall and actually, he's got the price wrong, It's 45 CHF per ticket which is cheaper than any big resort in the US or Canada. You're from Denmark, you know nothing about skiing here. OP, Laax is great, so's so many resorts here, just the food is real expensive You can tour for a lot less as well or just be careful with how you buy tickets. Jibberino, you are a rght dickhead

Do you even realise how fucking expensive the resorts are around there??????? It costs more to ski there on a day pass than in Switzerland. Why do you try to recommend places when you live in Denmark andspend what, 1% of the year skiing? Fuck off you absolute arse talking idiot.

Yes, yours is. Have you ever seen Alex Hall ski? No, so I don't know why you would say his advice is bad seen as he is trying to help a fellow NS and you're not! Can you ski like him at all? No, I don't think so, and your advice is unbased and you know nothing about shredding here.

whoaaa there ^^ harsh reaction. chill... its skiing.

btw with the prices, i dont know how old you are but i'm 19 so if the 45 is how much you pay and youre under 18 then I will probably pay more per day.

You have a serious problem, I think it might be retardation.

First of all, a day ticket at Laax is 71 franks you ignorant fuck http://m.laax.com/en/skiing-area/lift-tickets/prices/

A day ticket at Patscherkofel is 32 euros you ignorant fuck http://www.onthesnow.com/tyrol/patscherkofel/lift-tickets.html

So after establishing that you might be the stupidest person on NS, who seemingly cannot read or process even the most simple information, we can move on to your skiing comments.

As I have lived and worked as a parkshaper for 2 years in Scuol in Unterengadin, I ski every day the whole season, and continue to ski at Kaunertal and Stubai until june. So actually, I probably ski more than you do, you ignorant fuck.

Whether or not i ski any better than this Alex Hall (who is this, and why are you mentioning him?) means fuck all to me. All i know is that i am not retarded and i love skiing, so i seem to be a lot better off than you, you ignorant fuck.

You really are unfathomably stupid, I really hope i run in to you at Laax or Davos this winter, it would be really interesting to see what other handicaps you suffer from apart from retardation.

Suuuuure you were a park shaper.... Off season is 45, I was remembering from the closing weekend

Sure I'll see you at Laax because you'll be up there so often

Well come see me in Scuol then.

So you think that stating a price that is valid for les than 10% of the season is good advice? It is really quite impressive how you just keep on proving yourself as an absolute moron, who knows nothing about what goes on around him.

It's interesting that you're only reply doesn't concern the completely untrue things you said, and that I called you out on. What do you have to say about that?

And if you're up for meeting up, i'll definitely come to Laax and say hi.

Yeah sure, I'll meet with someone who's a right dickhead!Maybe you're just angry that you're 24 and can't slide a rail

It's quite amusing how you just spew out random judgments, but it has dawned on me that you are probably just too stupid to communicate with.

To OP, I really apologise for hijacking the thread with these irrelevant posts, but like I said, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Look at you trying to get with the pinkname. Stop pretending you're good at English by using words which are longer than usual because you're obviously not, you're just really rude and make up things about being a parkshaper. To OP, who would you rather trust? Some guy who lives in Denmark or someone who skis every single weekend he can and has lived in Switzerland for over 5 years?

You do realise that this isn't a 7th grade contest right?

What do you mean that I should stop pretending being good at English, isn't it really a matter of either being good at it or not? And how long is a usual word? Just wondering.

I can tell that I have hit a raw nerve with you, and triggered some very incoherent and ranting replies fueled by some sort of inferiority complex. You seem to be very fixated on me as a person and what I do in my life, it's actually pretty creepy. It has also led me to believe that you might not be retarded per say, but just severely mentally ill and highly volatile.

But like I said, you should put your money where your mouth is and come see me in Scuol, we'll take some laps and you can see what I'm all about. That is of course providing that you haven't killed me and used my skin as a robe by this point, because you're giving off a bit of a mentally disturbed vibe.

Fucking hell, where do you think up that shit? I just think you're a fucking idiot and I don't have a fixation with you, you're just a dickhead and speak to people I shred with all the time like shit. Why are you at Scuol if you're in Graubunden anyway???? There's Laax/Flims, Davos, Arosa, Braunberg, Lenzerheide (sucks though), Amden and Pizol and Flumsi if you travel a little further away. Maybe there's good pow there but I don't know, looks shit to me

Well, as usual you're talking out of your ass. I'm in Scuol because I got a job there 2 years ago, and the place is awesome. Very good pow, and if you ask me and all the people I met in the park this season, a very good park as well.

But really, this is where the fixation comes in to play. Why do you care what I'm doing in Scuol? And who are you to say that any of the above mentioned places are better? I've been to all of them apart from Braunberg, and other than Laax for park I truly believe that Scuol holds it's own against all of them. But that's my opinion, you don't need to agree with me, and you really, really have to understand that I don't have to agree with you either.

This all started because you gave downright incorrect information and then tried to argue that it was not, then proceeded to compensate for it by going off on me. Just accept that you were wrong to begin with, and stop ranting about where I live or what I know, because I obviously know a lot mere about skiing in the Alps than you do.

I don't care much about park but Laax is the best, I'm usually hiking for pow most of the seasonYou're just incredibly rude, I bet you wouldn't talk like you were to us if we were talking in a conversation with everyone in this thread
