Eric Pollard

Pollard is a result of too much money ....

i think lots of people could ski like him, but who has the cash to go heli skiing that many times a year...

i think hes an amazing skier . but i also think other could do the same if given the same opertunitys

have you seen idea?

its a film that any can make. the stuff is sled access, no helicopters, no planes. the budget was under 1 million unlike the other ski films. any can ski like him, you just need to get off your ass and do t

dude, pollard never really heli skis any more, and yeah just watch idea. plus pollard has been around so long he dosn' t need to impress or do comps. he just skis for fun and kills it huge. props for the coolest skier ever.

Wtf u talkin about with heli trips that what idea and hunting yeti are opposed to. While he is amazingly talented i think its his innovation that is impressive, hes brought a new perspective to our sport.

look back to older movies. He was really far ahead as far as clean smooth style is concerned, also with skiing shit in the bc.

they went heli skiing in the north cascades in episode one of hunting yeti. not to be a detractor, pollard is one of my top 3 favorite skiers.

Pollard is amazing, like someone said, he doesn't have to try to do the biggest tricks anymore because hes been around for a long time and his style is so smooth and revolutionary with the skis he designs.

it takes talent to imitation the pros for sure, but something more to create a new style. example, at WSI I saw Austin Ross do a Kangaroo just as good as Jon, but I'm sure he couldn't have if he never saw Jon do it first. Innovation takes a lot more than imitation.. Theres my 2 cents. Watch Hunting Yeti, its sick! Poor Benchetler, twice in one year?!

Pollard is the shit. Every pro skier is the shit though, and have their own style, and their own uniqueness. They all obviously love skiing to put that much into it, and maybe some share more in common with certain people than others, that is, people prefere different styles, some people might love pollards, and some people might hate it, but we can all agree that skiing is fun, and we are just out there to have fun. But you shouldnt stop discussing what styles you like and don't like, conversation just sparks more ideas, and ideas lead to innovation.

The same is for imitation though, I'm sure everyone has attempted to imitate someone else's style, pro or not, it is also good to take someone elses style, perfect it, them improve on it.

When I first saw his segment in Push, I was stunned to see something different from the rest of the movie. Instead of just 7's and 9's in the park, I saw sick switch shiftys off cliffs. His was by far my favorite segment in the movie, and when Idea came out, it blew away all backcountry movies with insane flow combined with stylish tricks. Hunting Yeti is coming along great, and I hope he keeps it up. He revolutionized a different type of skiing, and has a signature style that is unbeatable.

don't know if were on the same page here but, the idea crew maxxed out all there crediyt cards and funds, even with sponsors

i think you dont know much about pollard, or maybe skiing in general. if you look back at all his old parts from other companies videos', he was just a sick as any other pro out there. plus i would argue that he had a much nicer style. now, he takes the same style to the back country. unlike most other pros who only do the same tricks into pow (3, sw5, etc) he and the other dudes in nimbus are doing much harder tricks, and most importantly landing switch in deep powder. tons of other pro's ski back country, and they all hit just as nice snow and booters, but no one does it as well as pollard does. i dont see how you could say that alot of other people could be just as good given the opportunity. people are given the opportunity, but they are nowhere near pollard (and crew). he is definitely more skilled than almost any other pro skier, especially if style is important to you.

everyone has already told you enough about the heli trips

i love pollard

Opinion: Eric Pollard is good because he goes heli-skiing.

Fact: Hunting Yeti Heli-Skiing Count: 1

Idea Heli-skiing count: 0

Conclusion: This opinion was created due to massive ignorance and mental retardation.

Anyways.... I agree, Eric Pollard is sick. Anyone who cant see why doesnt deserve an NS account.

Seriously though, what is with people hating on pro skiers right now? I mean we've got dumont in one post, and then the tanner vs dumont post where everyone says dumont is amazing, but then everyones hating on him in the world record thread, and then we had Mike Clarke at JOSS, Pollard here.... Whos next, Mike Douglas? Why not hate on TJ just for good measure? This is disgusting, please stop, NS needs to be filled with positive stuff, it will help the community grow and develop, unlike when we have all the hate in the way...

he is a good skier but then again so are many more. there are many better pow skiers then eric. imo i like andy alot more. but eric does make sick pro model skis (ep pro, sir francis bacon, elizabeth, for those who don't know lol)

i think mahre more or less copies a lot of pollards style in the BC, don't get me wrong andy's an amazing skier, but pollard is like THE OG of ill back country skiing

Oh my god. Pollard is my idol. He is who i want to be when i get older, i am 12 and i know what i want to do when im older, be a smaller pollard. If i could get anything in like write now it would be to ski with pollard for one season, get 169 hellbents and 161 invaders. Personaly the most wanted thing in my life is to grow up to be like pollard, it is my fantasy. It is my one and only thing in life i want. When i do this and if i do my life will be complete. When i ever go backcountry with my bro again im tellin him im goin to this little spot, the spot is a little cliff, im guna hit it and if its good, i will begin my start of pollard, even if im not the best at age 12 now, im good for just restarting skiing 3/4 of the way through last season. The only thing i want to do is progress, if that means goin to the local shop and demanding them to let me buy some hellbents (they always want me to ski on bad seeds..... thats why i shop at evogear!) . Watching the new Hunting Yeti's wants me to go to the local shop and says that i want those hellbents, if it means i work and mow all my neighbors lawns every week which pinches my right nut every step i take, ill do it, just to be able to get a 2 ski quiver 1 park 1 backcountry, if it means ima go demo some bents then i will, even if the shop shits their pants ill do it. I am guna work the hardest i will ever work for just the progression of skiing and my life.

pep, andy, and eric have really pushed the sport in a different direction. theyve opened up a new kind of skiing. its extremely fun, and more laid back. i very much enjoy watching it as well.

warning, not a hate comment, just an opinion.

yeahhh i agree to an extent, but I really like to see people really hucking it, givin'er, and just lettin'er buck with ridiculous lines and biggggggggggg backcountry jumps, and with more tech tricks if you will. I LOVE good park segments. I could watch the 4bi9 movie for days and not get bored, just because the stuff in that movie is soooooo sick and pretty tech with sooooo much steeze at the same time. Maybe its just the fact that I am watching other kids about my age throwing down that gets me super stoked but maybe thats just me.

i just really love how hunting yeti is just a group of skiers having fun in the pow and how none of their tricks are spin to win, its mostly threes, fives, zeros, and sevens

is there going to be another episode and then a longer "movie" of footage from all the webisodes?

Pollard actually flips over though. Most of these new kids are just spinning like tops.

The man continues to amaze me. So much respect.

yes, full length in the fall, one more episode left. and rumor has it it's got what a lot of people are waiting for , PARK FOOTAGE!!

Sick! The first one was decent, had a few cool hits, but nothing really spectacular. And the second one was amazing, I liked it about as much as Idea. Hopefully the third will be epic, and I'm definitely buying the full length movie. Keep up the good work!

i love how he incorporates a more fluid and artistic aesthetic to his skiing. To pollard style and creativity have always been the driving force to his progression, it is certainly a possibility that he could use his athletic ability to huck switch tens like some of the more flamboyant personalities of the sport but he is driven by a different agenda and think it can be rooted in his artistic perspective on reality.

Pollard's been my favorite ever since i started watching ski movies. Hes out there to ski- not to impress, thats what makes him so good

Pollard is 1 of the most humble people I know, pro skier or not. You must be an absolute toolbag to say that shit. He got where he is from working his ass off. Idea was made on about 1/8 of the budget of every other film last year. He couldv'e worked with a much higher budget production company and made ALOT more money. There was no heli skiing in idea, you should actually know what your'e talking about before you say something like that. for instance, I could say you are the result of too much cock milking, but I don't personally know you so I wouldn't. I'm not trying to start beef, I'm just giving a hypothetical situation.

Word, he's not just another skier who got by on money, he had to work to get where he is. And the heli-trips were non-existent, Idea was filmed partly in-bounds on open resorts, and partly by snowmobile in the backcountry. Watch the bonus features, and you'll see him hiking, not taking a heli to the top. Pollard stands as what all skiers want to aspire to.

^indeed. i hope that chris will have some more shots tho. hopefully his injury doesnt ruin much. but that shot was epic. one of the largest 3s ever.
