Eric Pollard is guilty...

I dont think you follow....

He's a great skier, my personal favourite. But what gets me is how short people are when he's critized.

Maybe that's why he's so popular

I know I'd rather see someone get creative with their environment than with their grabs

And that's what he (and my other favorite skiers, eg Pep) does.

k first of all I get what your saying and I'm not disagreeing or telling you you're wrong I'm just stating my opinon

To me there's alot more to style than what grab you do. It has alot to do as you stated with smoothness and comfort but also axis and what feature the trick is on. A flat 3 on a hip transfer is very different than on a tabletop. I dunno to me that kinda thing all plays into style

of giving me helly hanson boxers at msp front line release long long long ago where i met him pep fujas and seth morrison and changed my outlook on skiing.

Ah I knew Shredtillurdead would get a deluge of indignant posts. His points are valid.

I think Pollard is rad, but it'd be disingenuous to say that he doesn't have a niche and knows how to milk it. He has tons of style, but more importantly he does ATTAINABLE tricks, and, in contrast to the prevailing park rat ultra-tech stereotype (which I do get very sick of - rich white kids coopting thug culture can be annoying as hell (though not annoying as the closet racists who scream 'wigger' at the phenomenon)), he's the middle ground skiier, the "soul-skiier" hero who can bust some decently tech tricks as well.

He's got a simple style and trickbook (which sometimes I like, sometimes I get bored of), he's unobnoxiously handsome (no homo, but it's a factor no matter how much ppl deny it), he's aggressively humble (now that's an oxymoron) - basically he's a skier who makes his fans feel very warm fuzzy sincere and 'real' for liking. As rad as he is, people will often go too far in bigging him up.

he was the first to do switch corks, brought butters into the backcountry, does spins with the weirdest and most unique axis (plural?) for example the cork 3 in en route japan through the trees

and he designs the sickest graphics for skis also his art in general is really beatifull !!

I follow. My last post = sarcasm. And I agree with what you say about people getting defensive about pollard- its pretty funny how heated people get. It's like he has beer flavored nipples or something, and everyone wants a lick. But he is definitely one of my personal favorite skiers. I just don't want to lick his nipples.
