Epoxy or ptex for this repair?

Bought these skis for 40 bucks and they've gotten me through dozens of days out so far. I work on the mountain and since it's been such a shit year need to make this repair myself rather than pay someone more than I paid for the skis. It's either do it myself or find a new pair for cheap, but I like these and am used to them. I have done a lot of epoxy work and related things so i think I can handle some of that. Some people say I might need a "weld" Does anyone know what that means? Do they mean by chance a thin layer of epoxy and then ptex or base filler on top? Looks like a plastic core. These are Bandit B3 rossi. from around 2007. Thanks for advice

Get a shop to do a base weld.

great advice but like I said these are 2007 rock skis possibly not even indemnified bindings. We are having a shit season and as my job is business dependant these are hard times, thanks tho

I'd put a thin layer of epoxy in there and let it dry. To a gumescque state. score it with a toothpick and then melt some Ptex on top of It. Should get you through the season

Prime with metal grip first. Metal grip has epoxy in it already. Finish with P-tex wire or ribbon. It's large, but can be done like this. See TY link.
