Ep pros vs 2010 Hellbents

I'm lookin for some fat 'ol pow skis for backcountry. my range is $500 to $600. currently looking at the 2010 Hellbents and the Ep pros. any advice on those skis or other recomendations would be very helpful.
 
definately hellbents, i have the hellbents and they are the best pow ski ive ever skied on, very wide and the rocker is insane, makes landing reg and switch easy, plus the graphics are just plain NASTY
 
If you plan on skinning anywhere, get the EPs. Skinning in the Hellbents blows camel dick, the rocker and the weight sucks
 
dude the eps for sure in my opinion. you really can never go wrong with line skis powder skis, and the eps and so damn fun in the back country, especcially on booters and things like that.
 
Thats what im kinda of leaning towards but do you ever use skins on them? also i am kind of hesitant to buy another pair of K2s beacuse the last pair i had ( ithink they were the 2009 public enemys) top sheet went to shit within 2 days of skiing them, do you have any problems like that on the hellbents?
 
Both skis are going to have chippy topsheets, but k2 bases are by far much stronger. They weigh quite a bit, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it. Basically it comes down to: eps= absolute ecstasy in pure powder, kill yourself in crud, ok on groomers. Hellbents= great in powder, though not quite as fun as eps, way more manageable in crud, and the same on grooms. Eps are lighter, bents are more durable. Your choice. Btw, als ski barn aka untracked.com has 2010 bents and 2010 ep pros for around 420-450 new
 
I really don't have that much knowledge of on pow skis so this is really helpful! heres another dumb question, which of the two are more rocker? im pretty its the hellbents but id thought id ask
 
Actually it's the eps. The hellbent rocker is 40 cm long, 20 cm high, while the ep rocker is 45 cm long, 30 cm high. The hellbents just have a longer flat spot ubderfoot
 
I have both skis and the ep's defs murders the hellebents everywhere on the mountain, from pow to normal runs, to BC they are a very versitle ski and the hellbents weight more then a beach nigger, dont get me wrong they are fun and playful but they ep in my opinion blows them out of the water
 
True eps are better in pure powder and are possibly better on groomers, but as soon as they're in chop, the hellbents destroy the eps. EPs are just too soft to be able to handle any type of crud. Hellbents aren't much better, but it's definitely noticeable. They're both very versatile for the type of ski they are, and both kill it in powder, but it just depends on what type of skiing you'll be doing. Honestly, for a versatile powder ski, caylors and bent chetlers rock both of these skis, but for powder specific skis, it doesn't get much better than hellbents or eps.
 
Just throwing this out there...sizeof the skier does matter quite a bit. EPs felt like ice skates in my feet a te flex was way to soft for me being 6'3" 215

I wish I could love eps but I went with the bents
 
But then again, if you want a ski that performs better in chop, you would stay away from both of these skis. Other than I agree with most of this post, the hellbents float great (as any ski with it's rocker profile and size would), but the EPs float as good and are better in untracked powder. And both skis are nightmares in chop, the EP is just a bit more scary, but I feel it's worth it for the extra fun in the untracked..

Personally I don't like K2's twintip ski, they feel kinda heavy and not that lively. Atleast that is how I feel my K2s have been through the years. I sold my hellbents and bought EPs a couple of years ago. And I'm looking at either Caylors or Pillowfights (if On3p makes another go at them next season) to replace the EPs for the 12/13 season..
 
Hellbents are more business, Eps are more weekend with kids. I just upgraded to hellbent from EP because I had no faith in my ep's on big landings. If you wanna be doing some jumpin on the Lines, you gotta be landing perfect or your gonna loop out. I now look at them as hellbent training wheels.
 
true true, and id definatly have to agree with you about the caylors and chetlers iv ridden both of them and they rock the shit out of both on theses skis everywhere on the mountain under any conditions but then there are then there are the rocker 2's witch are also dirty as hell..
 
Get chetlers or rocker 2s, not as wide but way better but between the two go bents, you'll slip out on the eps they're so soft !
