English Premier League 2014-2015

what a terrific weekend. Arsenal won, and damn near every other top team is dropping points.

this has been an excellent season for the little guys too. Lots of goals against the big teams.

Terrible week for fantasy footballers .... :( no doubt some lucky bastard had Vardy as captain.

Falcao looks like he's dragging a lump of concrete behind him

I actually fared pretty well for the first time in a couple weeks with Di Maria as my captain and then Sterling, Caulker and Diouf scoring.

Just checked your team, good choice having di maria as captain, think he'll be quite consistent for 10pts each week (I think).

Looks like southampton have a nice tight defense like last season, I thought that might have left with pochetino going but obviously not.

good lord that chelsea man city game was fun to watch. felt like i was playing fifa 10 having lampard and drogba on the field.

Looks like real and arsenal agreed on 15mm for kheidera in January. Obviously nothing is set but that would be huge

As a Real fan I am furious if this holds to be true. We are selling every single CDM we have. We only have Illiara left, and he has not proved anything. I hope Perez has a few new CDMs in mind (Pogba would be awesome but the price would be horrible)

guys lets not clutter this thread with shitty transfer rumours in september.

i missed the match but damn what a weird thing to see Lampard scoring against Chelsea, he didn't sound too keen about it in his post match interview. it would be heartbreaking if those two points make a difference come end of season.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Damn. Take the stick out of your arse...

Transfers are integral parts of the game, especially at this point where Arsenals frailties have been evident, much like Liverpool and Man U.

Of course he was not too pleased, this was against the club that he dedicated the majority of his life to. It would be like Stevie G scoring against Liverpool as an Arsenal player.

haha fine if you want to wet yourselves to shithole tabloid rumours when the window is like 4 months away. unless you have a confirmation via bbc, club website or skysports (not happening) its all just clickbait crap at this point.

Oh god I hope this is true. Get Arteta outta there, he is nowhere the CDM that Arsenal need in order to compete.

Again the injury bug is alive ad well with arsenal. Is the training staff incompetent or what? Flaming needs to be shot. Should be 1-0 right now or more. Chambers is feeling it and I thought he roofed that volley.

Obvious red card. Two foot slide and a yellow? Seriously? Fuck off galatasry now you're throwing flares on the pitch?

They lost a lil man called Suarez.

I would guess and say they are experiencing some of the same issues they had all last year (defensive frailties) that were masked by great attacking except now, there is no one with the same bite as Suarez.

They also have a ton of injuries right now. Sturridge coming back from injury will provide a huge boost to offensive prowess. Also Joe Allen and Emre Can being injured really hurts their midfield. There's just no one to sub there, forcing Henderson and Gerrard to play the full 90 game after game. As well as Sterling playing all match, even playing a full 120 in the League Cup. Injuries causing a lack of depth are really hurting them right now. Also, Lallana is just coming back to form after being injured all summer. They'll improve.

Anyone have a good way to watch arsenal v Chelsea on your phone? It's not on espn so I can't use watch espn.

depending upon your cable provider you can watch it on the nbcsports app. Just need your cable login info. Great app actually. Always works well for me.

I could honestly see Chelsea going undefeated this year. They haven't looked perfect but they've fixed everything wrong with last years squad and added depth. They already got a draw in arguably their hardest game of the season at the etihad. Liverpool, arsenal, and United have all looked weak at times and have lost some games which they could have won. Chelsea hasn't looked bad in any game so far.

arsenal have somehow managed to tie a bunch this season. first loss of the season in epl. honestly they look pretty meh. walcott or ox should start over ozil unless he is playing number 10. i like that wenger played three in the middle today but he should have put ox out wide. ozil cannot do it against chelsea defensively. especially after chambers got the yellow he needed some help. gonna be a long season for everyone but chelsea and man city i think.

I wouldn't say undefeated, but I think they're definitely going to win the league. One of the more stable teams I can remember seeing. Everything is nicely balanced and they can play the way mourinho dreams of. Score an early goal, park the bus, score on the counter.

I can see them losing to some garbage side like burnley or someone random though. It always seems to happen. One off game and that's that.

Yeah it'll definitely hard I just wouldn't be surprised if they did as long as they don't have an off game.

Arsenal have looked very mediocre and bad in the cl. Ozil goes invisible for huge periods in matches he needs to play the try #10 role.

the problem with arsenal is that they are tactically stubborn. they set up the same way against chelsea, city, Liverpool as they would against leicester or QPR. Wenger is a great manager and has implemented this great style of football over the last 16 years but its his way or nothing. he needs to start mixing it up in the big games and not just play 3 in the middle. artete and flamini need to go. they do nothing and need should be replaced by a matic type play and a box to box midfielder.

anyway rant over.

do you guys listen to any football podcasts? I've got a few recommendations if anyones intrested

never heard of it, any good?

the guardian have one called 'football weekly'. comes out twice a week. really good and a nice mix of knowledge and humour.

then theres 'football ramble' which is just really funny, great banter. quite a few insider jokes but you'll pick them up quick. comes out once a week.

the times have one called 'the game' which is alright but it's probably my least favourite. Rory smith is really good on it though.

the bbc have a podcast everyday called 'football daily'. really insightful. the best ones are on monday (the monday night club) and friday (friday night preview) but i don't think you can get them outside the uk. have a look though.

i can send you a link if your having any problems finding them. enjoy.

Yah it's pretty good. They have a tv show on nbc now too. Did a lot of coverage of the World Cup which is how I started listening. Banter, humor I like it.

What's so amazing about this goal?

First touch rabona shot with brilliant technique which caught everyone on the field off guard, especially the keeper. The power and curve off a rabona shot like that is just phenomenal.

Look closer. He struck it left foot behind his right leg.

Absurd goal.

While it is pretty impressive that he scored like that, I'm just wondering in that situation why he would decide to shoot like that instead of just using his right foot? He scored so that's cool, but if he hadn't I'm pretty sure a lot of people would've been pissed off no?

yea I agree with that. it's a great goal but it's a stupid play.

I like the great goals that are born from necessity. like that Henry volley against united with his back to goal, or the maradona goal against england beating every defender.

goals that were forced to be great. not just showboating

If he missed that Pochettino would've KILLED him haha. But yeah I agree more organic goals have a different sort of purity to them. However, just because it was a super contrived way to finish it doesn't make the actual physical feat less impressive. Still an absurd goal for me.

That goal is burned in my memory. I miss him

It's not necessarily showboating. When you have a second to make a decision instinct kicks in and he could've done that without thinking twice. He is left footed as well and rabonas sometime feel more natural to people than curling a shot coming from a wired angle with your weak foot. I agree it's still not as good as some goals.

well unfortunately i havent been able to watch much football this year so i can only speak of results, but im really happy with our start to the season. I knew diego would be good but he is really exceeding expectations. same for fabregas, he must be the most in form midfielder in europe right now. also some of the traditionally big clubs are really struggling. man u will turn up this weekend as they always do, especially at home but i really hope we go there to win this one. it doesn't seem like all the big money offensive players they brought in have quite clicked yet, and their defense is terrible. hazard and co should have a field day.
