English Premier League 2014-2015

Chelsea just buy players for no fucking reason, they're almost worse than Bayern. They have no need for another midfielder, Arsenal has plenty as well but Arteta is trash compared to what Khedira could bring at CDM.

It is a rich club issue. Same with RM and excess CMs as well, or Barcelona.

The only thing clubs EVER have a shortage of is extremely good center and wing backs.

I just hate when teams do it with the sole purpose of undermining others, even if they have no want/need for the player. Bayern is the worst example, literally buying out their direct competition...but Chelsea are trying to give them a run for their money in that department.

If they're playing for Chelsea, they arnt playing for Arsenal/Liverpool/Manchesters. It's a teqnique.

Rumor has Timmy Sherwood moving to Palace. I'd rather have Moyes, or some random from South Korea who doesn't speak engrish.

Also has last seasons Liverpool's player of the year: Conor Wickham, may be headed our way. I like that, he is aggressive, and our attacks lacked motivation yesterday. Too many chances that lacked intent and just died.

What is wrong with the interim manager? Brought up a decent result and some attractive play if you ask me.

As I mentioned, our counter attacks left something to be desired. What would start as a 3 person rush would turn into a two person rush, and sometimes just one person. Then the ball would be just about given away, rather than an aggressive and coordinated pass and maneuver scheme.

For a team that is defensively centered, that second goal should not have happened.

Sounds like rumors haven't stopped with Manchester United.

Rojo still apparently headed to Man U, as is Di Maria, while Juve said Vidal is going nowhere.

Can it just be September 2nd so the rumors end?

So Mangala was actually 53 million Euros, but Porto got ~30 since they didn't fully own him. Holy fucking insane. That's more than David Luiz's ridiculous fee and he hadn't even played in an elite league yet.

I really do not like the Rojo deal for United. Yes I think he's an upgrade from Smalling, but they don't need someone good they need one elite center back to hold it down. They need to go all out for Benatia, Hummels, or a different top caliber center defender. Also not sure why they're so caught up on Vidal/Di Maria. Yes they'd both be great additions, but why not try for Khedira or Song? Not quite as good, but I think they need a strong defensive CM to go with Hererra.

fabagas is pulling the strings all over the pitch. i can see him getting the most assist in the league this season. some great atmosphere from the burnley fans as well

Van Gaal either likes you or he does not. I guess he does not like Khedira or Song.

And Rojo is a little more versatile than Smalling if you ask me.

Nah, trailed the leg. He was looking for it.

It is akin to a 3 point shooter in the NBA kicking out his leg looking for contact

i disagree. gary neville or jamie carragher (can't remember which one) made a good point at half time. they were saying that in that situation you would try and trail your left leg (the one closest to the keeper). to maximise the chance of contact but if you watch the challenge costa actually hurdles the keeper with his left leg and the keeper makes contact with his right leg. i don't think he dived. plus at that speed when both players are flying towards each other, any contact with the stickers leg and its going to impede his run/ chance at goal.

Well if you trail the leg closest to the keeper you aren't even trying to avoid him and that is an easy simulation/diving yellow IMO. But if you don't pick up the trailing leg, well, it is less obvious but still an attempt to generate contact and dive.

Thats my view on it though.

Burnley are stingy though.

very true. i'll always be biased because I'm a chelsea fan anyway.

i agree. i think burnley played well, very stubborn and kept fighting to the end. teams in the bottom half of the table will struggle to beat them if they keep playing like they did tonight.

Ehhh. Reported fee of 20m for him and Nani on loan I think. Not sure Rojo is worth that and I'll miss Nani since I doubt he comes back and plays at United ever again. He's been shit recently, but he'll always be one of my favorites.

Yeah, didn't include the transfer fee. Smart move if you ask me, Rojo is versatile.

I agree he's versatile and is surely an upgrade from Smalling, but we seriously need an elite defender and he's not there. This move makes me think the chase for an elite center back is certainly over, which is not what I want. I think 10m for Benatia would have been worth it, but I'm not LVG so what I want doesn't matter.

Benatia is going for 20m plus right now with Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern all rumored to be interested.

We all know LVG is very picky with his players as well because if I were him, I would be pushing for Khedira like a mad man.

I'm disappointed he is moving to Liverpool. I like him as a player and character and want him to do well but then again wouldn't be upset if he was a huge bust for Liverpool either; which I certainly can see happening.

Milan is going to shit. From one of the best teams in Europe to a joke.

I feel bad for them. Italian football is following closely behind it seems with the exception of the few consistent teams like Juventus and Roma.

theyre going to have tough competition from psg from what iv read

PSG needs to really move some money around, no way could they buy him without violating FFP. He will command upwards of 50m plus because Man U will drive up that price with their desperation.

Cavani to arsenal;)

I thought PSG could only go after Di Maria if they sold a big player because of FFP, and that was supposedly Cavani to Liverpool but now reports suggests Liverpool are after Balotelli?

Really hope Balotelli does well with Liverpool.

Cavani to Arsenal would also be awesome. Even if it is unlikely.

That would've been sick.

iv seen "rumors" of cavani to arsenal. but we all know how those rumors can go...

Wenger spending that much on player? Surely not. Though I said the same thing about ozil....

It was never Wenger who wouldn't spend that much on a player, it was the Arsenal board. Now that the Emirates Stadium has been paid off, and they have the new kit deal with Puma, they're willing to start spending more again, or so the Ozil and Sanchez deals would make it seem. If Arsenal can somehow (obviously it's incredibly unlikely, but the rumors are there) get Cavani and Khedira (who RM are now reportedly willing to let go for 16 M), they'll be really strong contenders for the title as long as they can stay healthy.

*cough* Ramsey *cough*

Louis Van Gaal is the best god damn thing that has happened to United in years. I think his ambition to bring in Bundesliga stars will benefit the club greatly(partly because I am German and think Reus, Schweiny, Hummels...etc are some of the best players in the world.) Van Gaal will bring back the genius to the club that they haven't seen since sir Alex Ferguson left.

Best thing to happen in "a" year.

His ambition and his success are two entirely different things as well. He will have trouble getting Reus, Schweinsteiger, and Hummels or any other major Bundesliga star into the EPL.

Man United could be down a dark and dangerous path if they do not start to win and buy class players. Rojo and Herra will not cut it.

Same with Inter from 2010, but Inter is back on the rise. They just got Osvaldo on loan, and Icardi is still young, plus Handanovic is a world class goalie.

I really want to see Juventus, or any other serie a team, do well in the champions league this year.

I guess there's a rumor that Barcelona are offering Real 60 million for Di Maria? Would be unbelievable if that deal happens. I really hope Barca just goes in on transfers these next couple weeks because of the 2015 ban

No way would Real ever let him go to Barcelona. Setting up your main rival with a player of that talent? Those days are long over.

If that were to happen I would go apoplectic

That would be so crazy/awesome. Not a Barca fan, but it's almost always fun to see big names move to/from big clubs.

Please United make one big signing on someone proven. Yes I know they shelled out on Shaw/Hererra, but for fucks sake we need someone elite now.

If Benatia goes to Bayern, I'm going to be so pissed. Fuck Bayern so sick of their transfer moves. Still waiting on them to buy Draxler one day because well he's good, promising, German, and from a team within the league.

Yeah, it would be unbelievable if it happened, but boy would it be funny. Still don't understand Real's decision to replace both Ozil and Di Maria with players who are only questionably better than they are.

Yeah. As a Barca fan I definitely wouldn't complain about having Di Maria, he's a hell of a player, and only Madrid are stupid enough not to realize/appreciate it.

I can stand letting Ozil go, di Maria I am a little upset. Kroos was a great buy, but Rodriguez not so much.

Isco and Modric could both handle the Ozil position, and di Maria slid in quite well as well.

If I had been the Real Management, I would have sold/loaned Illara, entertained Alonso offers, and brought in Kroos and a striker.

That would mean a CM combination of Modric, Bale, Ronaldo, Khedira, Kroos, and Di Maria. That would have left a very strong defensive presence (Khedira) but kept the long ball prowess of Alonso in Kroos.

But Perez loves his superstars.
