English Premier League 2014-2015

What a finish by Jack. Arsenal looked as good as I've ever seen the first 25 minutes or so, unlucky to go behind but great to see some fight back into the game!

Great game, Welbeck up front has some promise. He missed a couple today but he makes things awkward for defenses, something Giroud lacks. If Arsenal can play like that all season they will be in the title fight come April/May. That said, we do need to start turning draws in to wins.

I didn't get any tickets to any premier league games but I got my tickets to the cross border derby Chester vs. Wrexham on the 22nd thats going to be nuts

I was wrong about Costa not being as successful at Chelsea as he was at AM. Damn, he is on track to win that Golden Boot before Christmas.

Haha I'm so bad at Barclay's fantasy. I never check on players and have Costa sitting on the bench. Playing fantasy american football takes all my attention.

And chelsea the league with it. In other news, his backup Remy just scored on his debut.

Agreed. If Chelsea play like this and Costa stays healthy (BIG IF), then it is Chelsea who are clear favorites.

I would want the CL if I was a Chelsea fan though.

You mean if Diego Costa can keep this up...

im worried about his hamstring but everytime hes had an injury scare hes come back to smash the opposition. so actually i'm not too worried, we also have one of the best medical teams in the world, not like arsenal who's players are constantly injured. also remy is a very solid backup and for the past few years we've been relatively successful without a world class striker. costa is key but he is not our only hope.

That sounds like it will be more fun anyway... Premiere league has more quality football, but the intimacy of a smaller contest takes one back to the 80's.

weren't you like 2 in the 80s?

Dingo owns and has completely watched a complete retrospective collection of Premier league football from the 60's to the 90's on Laserdisc.

Me too, at least so far. Of course it helps that Mourinho actually seems to be letting his attacking players attack this year, but still Costa has done well. He'll never be a truly great striker, but with creative players who can get him the service he needs, he'll score goals. There is a certain skill to always being in the right place at the right time, and he has it.

Nah, only like 1984-1989. I've seen the entirety of the Eredivisie Baseball league, however. Johan Cryuff was a hell of a backstop.

This is an impressive showing by Man U. I know it is only QPR, but they have so much more creativity than of late. Di Maria, Herrera, Blind, Rojo, and Mata are all having great games.

What the fuck are you talking about? You mean like Van Nistelrooy used to do? Costa scored only a few less than Cristiano and Messi last season.

Yeah, and I wouldn't say Van Nistelrooy was a truly great striker, either. Hard to be a truly great striker when you have to rely on service and can't really create chances on your own when the service isn't there. And Van Nistelrooy was better in tight spaces inside the box than Costa seems to be.

I don't dig your argument. If you score lots of goals you are a great striker, end of. Pipo Inzaghi. Sure he won't be top 5 all time or anything but he could very well be the premier league's top goalscorer (above Falcao, Sturridge, RVP, Aguero, King Drogba).

Costa is a great scorer of goals but not a scorer of great goals.

he's a goal machine. no doubt about it. but I agree that he isn't yet a traditionally considered great striker because of the unbelievable service he has. His goals are produced for him. I think most people consider a great striker to be ones who creates goals out of nothing.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Diego Costa isn't the kind of player who I'm going to look back at in 10 or 15 years and think "wow, remember how good he was?" whereas someone like RVP or Rooney I will. That, for me, is the difference between truly great players, and players who are just very good.

It's between Ibra and Lewandowski for the best pure striker in the world right now; for me. Lewy didn't always have superb service at Dortmund and created alot on his own, now at Bayern he's simply tearing the world apart.

Suarez?

But with those two I would take Lewy. Stronger, faster, YOUNGER. In their prime? Ibra.

Forgot about him, constant suspensions tend do that lol. I really dislike him but he is definitely in the conversation, he is a damn good footballer.

I'm enjoying the Liverpool game. They should've scored twice at least, but it's competitive. I think Ludogorets will get tired though, it's clear that Liverpool are a few levels above Ludogrets though.

I only watched up until the 2nd goal but damn Arsenal looked disappointing. Crazy the difference between City to Dortmund 3 days apart.

can i just say norwich are tearing up the championship, fulham on the other hand...

nice to be winning for once

I don't support any one team more than any other in PL and in my opinion, right now, costa would be warmly welcomed in any team. I agree he doesn't score the most exciting goals like bale and co (or valencia's against Hull on mon!) but he has that striker instinct like suarez where he can score from anywhere in the box. He would actually have been the perfect striker for arsenal because he scores all the types of chances that giroud misses.

Ozil! Welcome back!

Good finish and then feeds a brilliant ball to Welbeck straight afterwards. Weird game this, Arsenal never really looked super dominant but I'm not complaining with this scoreline.

Not dominating? What game are you watching?

I was talking about the first half before the goals; they came out of nowhere. Obviously once they went 3-0 up and Villa threw in the towel Arsenal dominated possession and toyed with them.

True, villa played well in the first 25 and if they had gone 1-0 up it would have been a massively different game.

Ozil has to play at number 10 or he shouldn't play, he never looks comfortable out wide.

completely agree, wenger should realize this too. it's so obvious what he can do in the middle when he has the freedom to roam.

Did Pardew loose his job today?

Or will Brandon Rogers beat him to that punch...

Hopefully Timmy Howard used up all his goal saving abilities during European play this week, and won't be able to stop much of anything tomorrow.

seriously what happened to liverpool?

They lost a lil man called Suarez.

I would guess and say they are experiencing some of the same issues they had all last year (defensive frailties) that were masked by great attacking except now, there is no one with the same bite as Suarez.

Not sure. They were terrible today. Defense was none existent. Stevie needs to retire.

My little bro got his LP thirds jersey for his birthday this morning right before the game too. balls.

Damn I told myself I wanted to watch the United game and didn't bring myself to wake up. How its physically possible to lose to Leicester with their roster and wage bill I'll never understand but it sounded like they got walked all over during the 2nd half. I'm thoroughly enjoying this.
