End the suspect hate

Ok i would like to say that this is just my opinion but i cant understand why these skis get such a bad rap
i have been currently been skiing on the 2011 suspects in the spring time slush of australia
They have been the best park ski i have ever skied on. Super sterdy and quick/light.
So many people hate on these skis about there " durability " but today i worked them on a rail i went tip first into the metal at a high speed i was expecting a chip or a dent. But there was nothing. They are holding up so well for me and i go hard when i ski park.
Im wondering how many have actually used these skis and do you like them? Because sometimes when reading comments I feel that people are just hating with no first hand reason to dislike the ski just because others hate on it
again just my opinion and just wondering why does everyone hate this ski when they peform so well

I skied suspects last year, and they were great.. i also skied STH 12's on them which were CRAP. I have a general dislike for salomon now, as do a lot of other people i think

wait you hate there binding or skis?
i ride griffons on mine and there sooo good
just because you dont like there binding means you dont like there ski?

i loved my suspects don't get me wrong.. but i have a major dislike for the company, customer service is absolute crap. i had so many problems with my STH bindings after being told they were bomb proof, and i got no help from salomon, i felt bad taking them to my local ski shop everytime i tore shit up on them

yeah, i would have to agree. they got too big, and as i read before (and strongly agree with) they are coasting on their big name, and they don't care too much about their customers

thats a fair point

but everyone hates on the ski and never company in what i have read ( prove me wrong please )
i just cant stress how good these skis are but theres so much hate on them

I had suspects 2 seasons ago. After 5 days of pre season rails the edges started to rip out. Then after another 5 days i had lost about 15 inches of edge on one ski. Salomon didnt even warranty them. Sure they were fun skis but they are not worth it when their are so many other skis out their that are better.

so you had the 08/09 suspects
wernt they less durable than the 09/10 and 10/11 ones?
thats just what if heard

just to let you know, the dumonts are the same as the suspect. so that was my answer.

Not sure if i agree to end the suspect hate, cause a lot of the suspects that ive seen have been absolutely destroyed. However, i was lucky with mine. Best park ski ive ever been on, and they help up margins better than my ar6s

^^this, ive skied suspect and a friend of mine has them and loves them, i too found them sweet, but maybe a bit too stiff for my liking (i like noodles)

My friend have suspects and he was complaining about them all the time, so one day I tried them and he used my T-Halls.

And that one day I used his suspects was a trow away day!

The skis felt shit in high speed and wasn't any good in switch landing on big jumps, top sheet looked like hell when the seson was over, and the edges was destroyed!.

The suspects doen't have pop compered to Armada T-Halls or AR6.

So I would never recommend those skis to anybody.

Thank you for posting this it really relieves me because I just bought a pair of 2011 Suspects with Marker Griffon bindings and I am really excited to use them this season.

really ive never rode them, but sounds like their only problem is durability. Which for me isn't an issue. If your skiing park you should worry more about performance rather than durability IMO. 600 dollars a year for ski's isnt actually too much, i can make that in 1 week no problem so i don't understand all the trash on durability /rant

Your ski season won't be that long with that 600 bucks ski. Most of these skis when their owner is a good park skier and rides a lot of park will break after 1 or two months. Your ski season won't be that long.

also, suspects aren't your only choice really. There are other skis that can ski just as well, and won't need to be replaced every two months. No hate, but I'm still a little worried about suspects this way

Since you had a bad experience it's definitely justified. It's these kids that come on here and hate on people asking about suspects. "Should i get suspects blah blah" and the usual response hates on the person for even considering it and half the kids hating have never skied them.

But anyway,I personally have 08/09 suspects... 120+ days on them and they're still holding together..love them.

I don't think i'll ever end up buying a pair of suspects, but i think they realize durability is their problem and i wouldn't be surprised if they are better this year, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they were still easy to break.

I really like my suspects, but my edge has cracked in 3 places in relatively short succession. This hasn't effected the performance much, but I can imagine the edges will be totally gone if I'm to use them next season. I think this is weak considering I only used them about 20-25 days last season (some days I didn't ski park as well). My previous pair of skis went through similiar (if not worse) beatings over the past two seasons and haven't got a single crack in them. I usually change out a pair every other season, but this year I might have to make an exception. I've given them in to be "looked at" at my local shop, but I haven't heard anything for a while now. Hopefully I'll be able to get a new pair for a discount or something, or in best case scenario they get warrantied!

If they don't do anything, it'll be a shame because this is my fourth pair of salomon skis and the first time I've had a problem like this. And for my new pair of skis one thing is for certain, it won't be salomon. :( They skied like a dream when they were all fresh and new, best pair of skis I've ever used.

i really agree with the fact that kids hate on them without trying them
i was kinda trying to say that in my original post
all these responses have been good guys and now i am aware on why people dont really like them
if they found a way to get there durability up without changing the way they perform that would be nice

The hate on Suspect isn't really hate...it's caution and frustration. EVERYONE who skis suspects seems to love them, the problem is, most people have to say "I loved them...while they lasted" because they had/have very poor durability and Salomon has generally disregarded it all and not even owned up to it (unlike Surface who went out and said "yes, there is a problem with our Nine Lives, we're going to fix them with the No Times" - I respect that so much more). If Salomon said "Our Suspects (or even park skis in general) have had durability problems, we're doing our best to figure out a solution" then there probably wouldn't be as much hate. While you and a few others got really lucky and had suspects that didn't break, imagine if they did. most people spent over $500 on a ski and then 2 weeks later they are un-ridable and Salomon wont do anything to help you out (that is, if you can find a way to contact them - there is no contact link on their page) - that would be EXTREMELY frustrating. I'm not going to judge this years Suspects until they've been tested by the masses, but I'm also not going to put any faith in them either - they need to prove themselves, and if they continue to have issues, I'm going to put it out there when people ask about them - I would do the same thing with ANY company (whether or not their mainstream), don't believe me - look at my follow up on the afterbangs a ski made by a company that sponsored me and was sponsoring me while I wrote the review, I clearly called out the issues with the ski.

Because Salomon screwed so many people over. They ignored the fact that they made poor quality skis and never owned up to it. Then the TM comes on here and tries to tell us stuff is getting fixed when nothing happened.

just wondering cause i've got some new suspects, did you de-tune your edges at all before you went out with your suspects

really enjoyed my suspects but the sth12s somewhat ruined my experience. but would def get suspects again

Theres a skier from my province whos on salomon at the moment i think..

he got so tired of asking for another pair of suspects after they continued to brake down on him so he now rides the shoguns in the park. no complaints after the switch.

I have a pair of 08/09 dumonts(basically the same as suspects). rode about 20 days on them last season and the edges are now split in multiple spots under foot to the point where there are actually some pieces of the edge which are missing. They still work pretty good though and i'll keep using them for next all next season unless they are completely destroyed somehow.

Pros: They are actually pretty good skis for park in terms of poppiness, lightness, etc and they're great for jumps, very stiff and stable.

Cons: Durability is crap

I wouldn't say suspect are light nor durable. My friends anthem weigh 300g less per ski than my suspects. Same length... His 178, mine 181(true 178)
