End of the Season Parks & Pipes

Is it me or does the grooming crew slack off during the last few weekends the ski hill is open. I'm sure it's been over a month or two since they actually touched up the jumps or ran the Dragon threw the pipe. It just makes me mad cause there is snow, but they don't care about shaping it up at the end of the season. So tommorrow the last day of skiing I'll be riding in a pipe that has one good hit in it. And maybe just maybe find a jump in the park that's not worn down by skibladers or Wedge Skiers.

yes you're right. grooming crews do slack when it comes to pipe & park grooming. it's mainly because they make sure the rest of the hill is perfect before they even look at the park because the snow conditions get really shitty at the end of the year and the groomers fix that first. a resorts main clientel is not people that use the park other than kids that parents bring to the hill.

Still the groomers are just sitting there around the picknick table. Enjoying they're last days of work at the ski hill doing JACK !

here's the thing. grooming will actually ruin the hill if it's really warm. The slush ontop protects the base from being melted. so if you compact the snow ontop it melts because it's put under pressure and then the base gets exposed and melts faster. but this only really matters if you don't have a lot of snow. Otherwise it's a bitch to push slush around and it's hard on the groomers so they just decide not to.

mt hood meadows keeps their spring park in crazy good shape. it gets bigger as the year progresses. cant wait to hit it up..

Same thing with Breckenridge. I went today and they groomed the pipe and all the jumps even though tomorrow is the last day. even built some new hits in the last month of the season.
