mcr is mainstream screamo

umm emo bands, bright eyes, the early november, say hi to your mom, some radiohead i dunno
 
i like some of the bright eyes songs, the best thing in my life (i think thats what its called) is my fav of theirs i get a fuzzy feeling from it cause its so cute
 
ohhh yeah and most of the music mentioned in this thread is Indie not Emo. get your damn music genres right.

What about hawthorne heights? Isn't that considered emo?

I wouldnt really call them emo, but yeah... their lyrics are quite emo based.

It's kinda weird because like 2 years ago emo wasnt anywhere where it is today, now its considered music of the fags and what not and for people that wear makeup. Thanks to bands like Hawthorne Heights and MCR, it has changed to a whole new genre. A genre of slitting your wrists and wanting to die.
 
there is emo indie type stuff like bright eyes and then there emo srememo stuff like underOath or Taking Back Sunday.

but i got really screwed by a venue and had to stop.

basicly every penny i make i spend on skiing or music.
 
rights of spring has some alright stuff...its to bad that emo has become this type of depressing whiny music because the real stuff (the old stuff) is actually pretty good
 
im into some emo stuff but more into stuff like protset the hero, silverstein, farewell to freeway and stuff like that!
 
Well they assume emo means emotional music.

Emo=Emotive Hardcore, as in hardcore derived from personal emotions of one's self.

Though most hardcore nowadays is about personal endeavor, at this time it was not.

i like rilo too. and mcr i don't understand why everyone dislikes them. I don't really care either though.
 
Fall out boy, motion city soundtrack, coheed and cambria, simple plan, dashboard confessional, the used, taking back sunday, hawthorne heights are emo. I wish my lawn was emo like those bands that way it would cut itself

if your feeling like death fust listen to some of the less known pink floyd, like cirrus minor, actually generally More is pretty good like that.
 
Once again, comments like that dictate you don't know real emo, from pop punk. Most people in emo bands have arms free of cuts, wear normal clothes, and look like normal dudes.

And the cutting thing is lame, self injury is a part of all cultures for many millenia
