El Reys against the Ar7

I know they are different skis but I was thinking of buying a pair of El Reys. How flexy are they, like easy to butter, or are they still really stiff? I ski pretty aggressively and I want a pair of skis to take in and out of the park. Any other recommendations?

I dont know you could look on thier website at the flex but i remember picking a pair up one time and being like fuck these are heavy so id image they are a little stiffer but idk

Certainly not the softest skis, however they'll be slightly softer than AR7's. They won't be the easiest ski to butter but as long as you've got good fitting boots and a good technique should be fine. I can butter on my AR7's which are stiffer then El Reys no problems.

Why do you want the El Rey's? The only reason to buy them is because they're cheap (they're Armadas entry level park/all mountain ski), you don't get the awesome AR50 sidewall like you do on the B-Dogs, AR7's, THalls, etc and the core isn't as great as the ones used in the other park skis.

I'd look into the Thalls if you're interested in the El Reys and AR7. Thalls are softer then both but also have better construction then the El Reys plus they're full camber so they'll be stable and hold up well at speeds and on big features.

Thank you for the perfect response. I know what I'm looking for but I'm having trouble finding it.

What are your thoughts on the line Chronics, they've caught my attention but I don't want to fuck up a big buy

what are you looking for? just guessing but if you were looking at the ar7s but want something softer, dude above is right on the money with the T halls...same dimensions i think but softer. that's a tried and true shape right there

no comment here on chronics...im a Line-hater

idk where you live but unless you only ski tiny hills id go for something a little stiffer and wider. ~96 waist is my personal idea of what a perfect park/all mtn ski is

Need more details man.

Things like what width, profile, brand preferences, budget, and where do you ski are all helpful in giving suggestions. Also what height and weight are you?

But the Line Chronics are a nice ski, I have a friend who rides them and he seems to like them. I haven't personally rode them so it's hard to comment but the flex looks around medium, so soft enough to butter but not to soft they'll wash out on landings and get speed jitters.

East coast I'm like 5,5 115 pounds looking for under 500 usually but there are great sales (40%) right now at a place close to me. And probably don't want to go more than a 93 ish waist

Alright well to be completely honest at your weight and height you may struggle to truly butter any ski park unless you really put a lot of effort into it.

But some soft - medium flex park skis under 93mm waist you could consider include:

Armada THalls

Armada B-Dogs (will feel more buttery than the THalls due to the rocker).

Atomic Infamous

Atomic Punx

Faction Candide 1.0

Line Chronics

Line Future Spins

K2 Shreditor 92's

ON3P Filthy Rich

You won't go wrong with any of the skis listed above and they all be fine in and out of the park.

Well the thall, ar7, and pipe cleaner are all ALMOST the same ski very similar one of the biggest diffrences is flex the ar7 is the stiff one of the 3 the pipe cleaner ,the medium and the thall, the softer/softest. (correct me if im wrong but thats what i heard and believe its true) They all have very similar dimensions and of course there are many other differences but on a broad, broad scale they are almost the same. So pick your flex and feel it out. Personally, I love my pipe cleaners.Sorry for the wall of bad grammar.

this is good advice, and from what ive seen, this dude gives good advice in general. id check out that list. for your uses id suggest the Thalls. same dimensions as ar7 and pipe cleaner but softer/more buttery

im pretty sure youre right except that the order from softest to stiffest goes thall, ar7, pipe cleaner. and this may not be true but i believe the PC has a different base, or at least did

it is true that the pipe cleaner has a softer base material which absorbs more wax and makes the ski faster (thats the idea at least) but in terms of core t is the medium flex. Fyi not trying to be a pretentious douche if thats how it sounds.

no, not pretentious or douchey at all

that's just really surprising to me cause i know the ar7s are relatively stiff as park skis go, but i always thought the pipe cleaner would be stiffer since it is (or at least was introduced as) a pipe ski...?
