Effectiveness of good boots

so i just realized that ive never really bought quality boots since i would swap them out yearly (foot was growing) but now that ive hit my peek im stuck in these shitty ass solly foil boots. and frankly, i feel like these boots make me a "sloppy" skier if that makes sense (the boots dont carry through what my feet are doing to the skis/edge). so what i am asking is, if i get a nicer boot, will the responsiveness really improve?

mine get soo loose after the first half hour of riding. i start off with just the buckles at the lowest adjustment, and they fit just right. after about a half hour, they are buckled down all the way as tight as they go and they still feel loose. my heel moves around a ton too.

that sounds pretty bad. since youre feet arent really going to grow anymore buy some new boots and get them fitted

sounds like you overestimated your foot growth and got boots that are too big. I know some people that have foils and like em

yeah they are 27.5's

i my buddy has got some 26.5 konflicts he said he would give me if they fit. figured i could just buy a new liner or put in a different footbed and use those for a bit if they fit. seeing as i just got new skis and bindings i dont really have 600+ to go and buy some nice boots. maybe next year.

i was looking at the kryptons, i hear they are pretty bomb boots in all the reviews, and wider than FT.

i think having a fitting boot makes a difference in your skiing. I definitely felt "sloppy" in my old boots when i had them, because they were super packed out

Like always, you will really benefit from having your boots professionally fit. Sounds like you are a shell size too big, but there could be a few other things going on too. Do yourself a flavor and get professionally fit and with some good footbeds. You will notice a HUGE difference in your balance, overall skiing, and warmth.

yeah man if u get ur boots ot fit right, ur skiing will really improve, and u will have more fun without ur feet killing u all day. My spk's packed out like crazy, and they are super wide for me, ultimatly i made a poor choice buying them 3 years ago, so here is what i did: 1 i put a 1/4 inch heel lift in the boot as well as a shim to make them smaller aka lift my foot up because the boot is rounded, the higher ur foot will go up, the smaller the arch gets around the boot. I put in 2 tongue pads on the outside of each liner to squeeze my heel in the pocket better, and because i have terrible pronation i put a varis heel wedge as well in each boot. My skiing day yesterday was AMAZING, i had no pain at all never got toe jam, the outside of my shins didnt hurt at all, it was like an entire different boot, i loved it. So basically what i am telling u is if u dont have the extra cash to shell out for new boots, take the to a boot fitter, and get them fitted to ur foot. It will make ur day so uch more fun with nice fitting boots.

I see ski boots as an investment. You're investing in your feet and your skiing. Some people wear ski boots more than they do shoes in the winter. You want your feet to be comfortable all day. I had the old green salomon foils 3 years ago and I absolutely hated them for exactly the same reason, they felt too sloppy. I also got shinbang all the damn time. From hearing your complaints I would recommend looking into the dalbello boots... Which it sounds like there is some intrest there. Look at dalbellos boots with the three piece design, they have the buckle which sucks your heel down into the heel cup, so your heel won't have as much movement as you do now. Try on each one of their boots because the width is different in each model... As theboots get more expensive they also get narrower, so the Il Moro T's are the narrowest, but also highest performance boot they offer. I have this years Il Moro T's And I love them so far. They aren't sloppy at all and I can really feel my skis respond. They also come with two tongs.... One stiff and one soft. I use the stiff one just cuz I don't like feeling sloppy. So, don't worry about price when boot shopping... Get what fits you and what is going to be best for you.

Well it is like this, and a lot of people don't get it - You can ride bad skis in good boots, but its no fun to ride good skis in ill fittet boots. The most important gear... the boot

And good luck with it

This. People spend so much time deciding on what skis to get, but when it comes to boots, some people just choose the pair that goes with their outfit.

wow awesome advice guys! i will take my boots to a boot fitter when i get home. hopefully they can do something to fix these temporarily for part of my season until i can save up and get some better boots. thanks for all the help guys!
