I literally live on lake superior and I just heard that song on the radio stoned as fuck and all I can think about is the fact that homeboy really made a song about 30 dudes gettin merked right outside my house and the whole world of 1970’s was just like ya this is lit.

Isnt that fuckin crazy or what. It is a banger tho but I can’t imagine how it got so popular like it was on siruis xm 70’s on 7 which means there were people bumpin that shit like everyday like how bro I hear that song once and just think about what id would be like being in that situation I can’t hear that shit on a daily basis. Can’t believe there are people that just bumped it daily. Thats nuts

As another fellow who lives on superior this is a top tier song. Nothing like biking on the Marquette shoreline in the summer jamming to some Gordon Lightfoot or having a bonfire on the stamp sands drinking hamms and bellowing out The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald with the gang at sunset.

TLDR:

Waves like this...well bigger than this (on a lake)

I've witnessed one day with 18-24 foot swells on superior and the way the water moves is unlike anything else.

I mean who WOULDN'T love a song about the largest maritime disaster in the great lakes history???

The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish bay if they put 15 more miles behind her

Facts

Throwback to the 4th grade when the teacher played the song while learning about Michigan history.

I also live on Superior and am a big fan of that song. It's sad, but very catchy.

Way better than some rapper singing about beating women.

Fuck this god damn thread. Not only was this fucking song stuck in my head all day but no I'm sitting up drinking whiskey in the middle of the friggin night playing some friggin song about some boat that sank on some stupid lake in the friggin midwest.

FML

Actually digging it though. This geetar has proven to be a worthwhile investment.

"At 7pm, The main hatchway caved in....he said fellas its been good to know ya"

If anyones ever up near Whitefish Point, definitely stop by the lighthouse/ship wreck museum and pay your respects.

Oh I did. Not exactly perfect, bu I be learnin. Actually stoked that a lot of chords aint that hard and show up in a bunch of songs. Just got this dang geetar a few days ago but I've wanted one for a while. Literally all I do right now. Although I wanna draw out my transitions for my skate ramp today.

I like music and my roommates annoy me so this shit is perfect. I just sit in my room and try and learn shit.

Banger tune and a cool story. I just might learn it today. Hopefully not end up jamming all night with whiskey, but it's the type of song that calls for it.

At least you got to sing about an epic shipwreck. Any of my Washington brothers here will prob remember singing ,

"Apple maggot quarantine area, do not transport homegrown fruit..."

Now is the time. Something to do and I live terrible music. I just learned baby one more time and genie in a bottle.

Sorry neighbors Ill be drinking bourbon on the deck and serenading you with all the shitty songs you wished you'd never hear again till quarantine ends.

Worth the watch if you're bored. I know a bit of the history and grew up around ontario and traveled to the others as a kid. Still wild but some things I hadn't heard.

Rogue waves man They are the nightmare and they are real. Something at least 2x the normal wave height and moving 5x as fast.

The legend lived on from the Chippewa down of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee

Always been fascinated by the edmund Fitzgerald wreck.

here’s some footage of the wreck for those interested

It might be one of the most lyrically intricate songs ever it’s awesome song

the actual storey of the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald is pretty sad
