Editing Software Question

This is probably a re-post but I'd appreciate the help.

Looking for a cheap editing software to get me started making short movies, not for skiing edits, but for stuff about the same speed. Video will be shot from a go pro and a Cannon Cool Pix P510 if it makes a difference. This will be my first attempt at making edits so I'm not sure its something I want to invest a lot of money in, got any recommendations?
 
If you have a mac, which im assuming u do: get iMovie if you don't have it, or torrent FCP.If windows, you're screwed...
 
Thanks for the reply, I have a dell and a Toshiba that got fucked by a virus. So I pretty much have to go with the Dell. what would you recommend then?
 
Sweet, I found it for 60 ish dollars on the internet. I'd rather spend 30 but if thats the best for the price.
 
Wait, think I was looking at books on how to use the software...shit. How much does the software usually cost?
 
lol at people suggesting a mac program for his windows device.

Just use Windows Movie Maker, im sure it will work just fine for you and its free.

If you want something more, check out sony vegas 9 or 10
