IceRider...call me...i can build you a pizza box g4, 1 ghz, 512 ram for about a grand if not maybe an extra 200 more. if you don't mind missing the altivec instruction set (you will if you do code stuff), i can build you a g3 cluster of 5 machines or so for about a grand.
for those of you on dual g4s using final cut 4, you do know that fcp 4 isn't set up to use both of your processors when doing the video rendering right??? there was some report about the p4 3 ghz smoking the dual 1.42 g4 at video...the guy never activated the second chip using the rendering farm option and it turns on the dual still smokes the 3 ghz p4.
the 970 single chip beats the shit out of the dual 1.42's right now. thing is though, gotta wait for apple to get off their asses...you may still be seeing os x running on amd equipement as the pc port of os x has continued and the darwin bsd core is widely available for the i86 instruction set.
