Editing Help: Please rip my edit a new one.

So I made this little edit of my boss and I kayaking, and one of our coworkers sent it to his friend who wants to monetize it and further edits by selling direct ads to large media channels. I suck at editing and am overwhelmed by this invitation, and would love some harsh critiques that I can learn from, as well as tips for editing in FCP. I shoot on my gopro and edit in Final Cut X (I also have FCP7 but prefer X because I have no idea what I'm doing).

Thanks for the critiques; I'm sure there are a bunch!

It wasn't that bad actually, props!

I would say lear how to deal with color because some shots were really dark

Don't slo-mo every shot because sometimes the real time looks a lot cooler

and lastly try to cut to the song more, like try to sense a vibe with the chosen song and really work with it, make certain cuts, use certain affects etc....

both these, color correction is easy and can make a big difference, but the most important thing is making sure not to over-do it.

next time if you can remember to keep wiping off the gopro lens to keep it free from water on the housing getting in the way of your shots.

Also try to change your shots next time, I know your working with a mount, but a simple static shot of people kayaking by when the cameras not moving would help.

I liked it and you did a good job, this kinda of kayaking is pretty sick.

ive never actually seen a kayacking edit and that was really sick! yea in the future work with different camera angles and focus on the colour to make sure no shots are too bright/ too dark etc
