Editing for Beginners Help

Yo, so for the past couple years my brother has done all of the editing for our edits etc, and now that he is off at school I am kinda screwed.

I have a bunch of shots and just downloaded Final Cut Pro X and was wondering about any good online resources/guides that go into detail about how to use the program...

Also any pointers for a beginning editor?? Thanks, +K to good responses
