Edit Critique

First off I'm kind of new to the filming/editing realm and the Abduction Media idea we put at the start of each video is based off one of my friends ideas and doesn't want to let it go. I'm just tired of having all my work credited in-advertingly to him based on a name for a "group" of people that film for fun. Now I'm the only one interested in it.

Anyways here's the edit I made. Pretty much all the filming was done by me or by friends who couldn't care less about filming so there was no intricate shots or panning, plus I was the one skating. I edited it as well just wanting to get some feedback. I know some of the slow-motion shots are blurry around the motion because I used the FCPX Optical Flow option and I'm just wanting to hear some feedback, thanks.

Also about the skating, I've only been skating altogether for about a month, I've had off and on bursts of wanting to skate and just being lazy and not doing anything. That's why there's no rails or grinds because I'm just absolutely tragic at them.

Good song, cool edit, but ruined by the optical flow. Speed ramping was done well, just use that, and your freeze frame a few mins in was pretty bad, it jumped and just looked terrible. 1:15 was really nice though.

I know, I'm not entirely sure on how to fix the Optical Flow any pointers? Also the freeze frame was getting my rattled because when I was editing it it never jumped or had the holes but when playing back it had them and wasn't sure on how to fix them.

I wouldn't use optical flow at all, but I will give you some pointers. It works best on a well lit day, the further away from the subject the better(I guess because less distance moving across the screen). Having a plain background is best, if its graffiti or something it'll Fuckup. Settings don't make a huge difference, but the original shot does.
