Edge Cracks

I'm thinking about buying a used pair of skis, but the seller told me they have a couple minor edge cracks. Is this really that big of a deal? Is it going to effect the ski very much? Please help. Thanks

An edge crack is bad enough in itself, but will also quickly become an edge blow out. So much force is applied to edges on rails and jumps, you shouldnt buy any ski with less than perfect edges.

depends on how bad the edges are, but even still a small minor crack will eventually turn into a bigger deal with use

yeah, they'll probably rip out eventually, especially if you do A LOT of rails. But, depending on the ski (what ski is it by the way?) and the price it might be worth it cause you'll be able to ski them for a little while at least and then once the edge rips out you can use them as urban skis or beaters.

If you get a sweet deal then maybe although a crack all the way through is going to rip out at some point so if they're for indoor or just rail use then maybe.. ask the seller for some photos

I cant remeber to ever owned a pair of skis without cracking the edge within more than 2 weeks of skiing.. its not a big deal.. most of my edges has blown out as well, it doesnt matter
