they are holding a slopestyle competition hosted by forum snowboards, winner gets plane tickets to big bear in cali, not sure if its snow summit or not, anyways i think its only for snowboarders though

I wouldn't be too upset that it's for snowboarders. Edelweiss is the worst ski hill ever. They keep promising us all this stuff, and I was there the other day, and I seriously couldnt' believe it.

They had one straight rail, the trap the we put in a month ago and haven't even MOVED yet (the just groome around it!!!!) and the sorriest excuse for a jump I've ever seen.. it's a spine that's maybe 5 feet high and 8 feet long. It's depressing.

Just thinking of the way EV is run makes me shutter. I hope that EQ sets up a jump bigger than 10 feet, cause you know, that would be cool.

forum snowboards is having a tour around canada and usa, just go to forum site nad search for it, my friend gave me link, something like 'young blood' or 'yougn guns' its called, anyways eq has plans for a park, they say it will be good, i don't know if they will actually go through with it though... but since forum is setting this thing up maybe they will bring rails??/ who knows...

cmc was saying that in the minutes of some meeting EV had, they said they're having a beginner park on yoddler, and an expert park on strief (not 100% on the strief location)..

The thing is, if they're so keen on making TWO parks, wouldn't they at least have a jump up by now? EV always has plans for big things, but no one has the balls to take any initiative and make something happen.

i am not trying to defend them too much...but we do have ZERO snow to work with rigth now and from what I hear there really arent any parks anywhere. I am gonna try and get that rail moved this weekend and get some answers on both the park plans and whats happening with the comp on the 4th. I had mentioned to one of the EQ guys that they would probably get alot of skiers out for it and he seemed interested but I dont know who is actually running the event. I'll keep you posted

They're going to have to use a sledge hammer to get that rail out of there... they've been grooming around it for a month.

The west 49 rail they have is wickid.. but of course, they didn't build a good jump to it. Just like last year! Oh hey, nothing has changed.

Having no snow isn't an excuse in my opinion, because it just means they aren't doing a good job blowing snow. They were off to a great start, but then all of the sudden, nothing's open. The weather has just turned bad, but it was PERFECT for over 2 weeks..

Blue doesn't have THAT much more snow than we do, and they have six rails, a SUPERPIPE and a jump. The least EV could do is bulid a good jump up to a rail, move the other one (which WE put in!!! The only reason it's there is because we decided that it should go in, so we dug it out of the bushes, used Craig's shovel and dug it in.. so if it weren't for that, ALL they would have is that one rail up to.. that they JUST put in.. badly) and build a friggin' jump. They have HUGE piles of snow. Build a lip on one side, chop up the other, and they have a 40 foot jump.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating.

i agree totaly, they aren't going to attract business htis way, i havent even been up ths season, its sad, everytime i wanna go its not worth it because im hard for cash and thre is nothing set up really

k...so I had a quick chat with the ops manager today at this is a quick summary of what he told me:

-there will be 2 parks. a beginer/intermediate one on yoddler as usual and an advanced one on upper streif. each will have hits and rails

-the guys from EQ are designing both parks and will be at the hill every friday night once it closes to work them for the weekend.

-they want to actually build the quarter on zommer

-tonight (saturday the 21st) the eq guys will be up there to cut the first kickers similar to last years table setup.. They will prob also drag the trap rail to the park as well

He appoligises for the lack of park up till now but they havent been able to run teh snowmaking as much as they would have liked and their efforts have been focused on opening a few runs before the holidays

I'll keep everyone posted as I find out more

by the way...was anyone skiing there today (saturday)? between the freestyle camp and a few jibbers there were about 20 poeple on twins

sounds phatt to me.if they do go through with this it will be hecka cool... what part of strife do they mean? would it be on those big hill type things going to the run? and how 'intermediate' is it? like the tables being.... 20 footerS? or more... like what constitutes as beginner and intermediate?

Haha, that is sooo funny that they have only moved rustasaurus after we put it in there about a month ago.

Remember when they had the kickass funbox, then we went back the next weekend and the inrun sucked soooooo bad and the slidey stuff was in such bad shape we went into the WOODS getting rusty old rails? That was kinda sad.

So.... I'll see everyone there when I get back from Nova Scotia?

hey man, ill be there all toomorrow, hopefully :S, (tuesday) and im looking foward to seeing how thigns are lookin, i was there saturday and nothing had changed, ill be on blue 10s with a blue quick coat and road a frames, i should be with a chink on shitty heads, so if u see him doin sumthing cool on shitty skis with a grey helmet thats him and ill be right beside him, hahah, but yea hope to see ya there, c ya tm then. pc

yeah the fact that EQ and Top are doing parks at competing hills should make for some great parks. They are both going to try and outdo the other ones to be bigger and better.

i was there yesterday, and it was very round, but some dude took a shovle and made some kind of lip to it, both were ok hits after they had a decent kick on them, still not the greatest, but not horrible when u consider the hill

Edelweiss was a solid chunk of ice today. They put gnarly lips on both jumps... I hit one of them and landed backseat.. my shin/calf/knee is totally messed up now. UGH... three runs for 2 hours of driving. I hate edelweiss so much.

you guys should really start looking at calabogie, the place is pretty good. I was there on the 23rd and they had 3 rails set up, and 5 hits, all different sizes, it still needs some work but it was only the 23rd, the snow is pretty good too, nice and soft.

Pro Am It's all about the East.
