Echo mountain sold. to a bunch of racers.

holy shit i just got so angry about this. She isn't a skier, and is doing this so that her kids dont have to drive a couple more hours to the mountains.

They are no longer allowing anyone who is not on the racing team to train there. Pass Holders are going to be contacted and refunded for their pass. This infuriates me so much.

Poach we must. it is our duty.

holy shit! i think it's kinda funny, i mean echo was pretty cool....i only skied there once so i'm not really going to miss it.

that is unfortunate, but also hilarious

This is sad. Not just for NS, but the Denver community. I feel like Echo was a cheap way to learn to ski, and families would usually not be willing to commute the trek that I-70 is, found Echo a reasonable option.

totally! i've never been to echo but i had super high hopes for it this year. i was secretly hoping some awesome someone would buy it and dump a ton of money into the park. it would be so sick to have something closer then breck or key and without the lift lines, but it looks like thats not happening now. because racers totally need more training ground.

World class training resort, at Echo Mt? Bitch please.
More like I don't want to drive up to Vail (a really nice ski area in the first place) so I'm going to buy my kids a fucking mountain instead. I hope nobody else goes there and they go broke.
I want my refund.

Echo from the day I was there is similar to a ski area in Wisconsin, like KINDA sketchy set ups that are fun, and not the best snow conditions....BUT i love skiing in wisconsin and i had fun the day I was at echo, it's fun, but certainly no A51

theres skiing in ruby hill? im moving into lodo in the next month so thats not very far.

i love sketchy rock solid night skiing, i worked at a rope tow that was downtown for 4 years before moving to denver, so i got super spoiled getting to ski every day, i dont wanna stop, even if its just for a hour or so after class.

yeah i hear that! I'm from wisconsin, so i used to ski after school all the time, and some of the most fun i've had skiing is hiking some sketchy icy rail at night...so needless to say i'm pumped if ruby hill opens up this season to go hit some rails and boxes after work or school or something

Got one better. Night before it opens, tag the shit out of the place. And I dont mean a small crew of people. I mean get a group of hundred. Get a bunch of snowmobiles and just run rampant. Tagging every lift tower, every building, every snowcat, every single piece of equipment with a stencil saying echo sucks or some stickers.

There's got to be enough pissed of skiers and snowboarders from Denver to do this.

I went 2 years ago and it was honestly the sketchiest shit ever, everything was crooked as fuck and not kept very well. Bomb holes so bad you even land. If you got there early enough when they open it though, it could be fun.

no that's WHY it's fun. the sketchier the better....PLUS it's only 3 miles away from my house! so i can go hike a shitty down rail for like a half hour and that will satisfy my craving

I paid $60 for a half day lesson, rentals, and a full day lift ticket at echo.

Was (for what it was) a dope mountain.

This disgusts me.

Damn mobile. Left a not so nice voicemail not swearing or anything just like why did you buy it? Racing at Echo means shorter season not

Well if you read the post down because I fail hard on mobile I just said I said how dumb it is to use echo as a race course considering snow factor.

Kinda late on this but today I go to buy a season pass and what the fucking shit. how did this not make big news? i live 25min away and I didn't hear about this. bull shit /endrant

Really? ending the entire terrain park for some spoiled little racer kids? This is why racing has fallen off, why no one cares about it, why K2 makes no race skis, and why the skiing community has come to despise the racing culture. Instead of moving to an established racing ski area, mommy bought her 9 year old daughter a ski area? This could have been done without ruining the entire park scene at echo. No one gives a fuck about racing, andecho will never be the chill, fun spot it once was.

Ryan,

It is our intention to add a terrain park when we increase the vertical. When I receive emails like this I am second guessing that decision

I re- pasted your conversation. And If shes serious about re-opeing to park and public, good. She should of done this before but if a large amount of complaints is what it takes then well done sir.

echo mntn park was bought by investors who rennovate and flip propertys. This has been the plan since the beginning, not necessarily a private race camp but they had no intentions of running the place for the long term.

thanks for the repaste it kind of got fucked when i did it. but yes, your thought is mine exactly. Why not just move to beaver creek, or telluride, or vail. Why end something locals REALLY care about for your nine year old, who will probably be over racing in 3 years anyways. its just how the rich and greedy are outside of Denver. and here's her email. send shit and ruin her day. nora@frontrangeskiclub.com

I dont understand why cant racers and everyone else share the mountain. I mean she could of bought the mountain and shared it. Maybe made a run for racers only, but she designated as a racer only hill? Thats BS.
