Ebay why did I sell anything there?

I fucked up and decided to sell a gopro on ebay since no one was buying it. I literally sent a brand new gopro 100% perfectly functioning the day I sent it out. Now I have some case opened against me because the buyer says I sent them a broken product and they want a refund, and I know for fact that the gopro turned on and functioned 30 minutes before I packaged it up.

I don't want them sending me back my camera that is broken. That is that. I am not sure what happened to the camera but I don't want to be taken advantage of by some buyer who accuses me 4 days after they receive the camera its broken and doesn't work.

Has anyone delt with this? The seller wants their money back but ebay said to not give it to them since I am getting a product returned in broken condition, which is far from the condition of the gopro when I sent the camera.

Just wait it out and see what happens. They might make a case with paypal and paypal will review the evidence and if you are convincing enough then you will be fine.

Def don't give them their money back. If you sent them a brand new product and you think they broke it why the fuck would you give them money.

Also it's a go pro. Even out of the box you can pretty much do anything to those without breaking them. It's not like you sent an old vase and the delivery guy ran it over.

Get a picture of the box. If you sent it new it's pretty much impossible for him to get it broken with a box in good condition.

Tell him to fuck off. Kill him if he doesn't listen.

I've heard of people doing this with broken xbox's after they break one. They just buy a new one, and turn around and try to return the broken one in it is place.

^ya'll dont realize ebay almost always will side with the buyer automatically. So they'll refund the buyer and OP will have no camera or money

don't give them their money back. you bought the gopro and sold it to them. It belongs to them now. If you take the gopro back and give them their money back it would be screwing you over because you'd be stuck with a broken gopro.

hate to say it bro, but the buyer pretty much has your balls in a death grip. i've had experiences like this and you always end up losing as the seller.

The guy says the camera keeps overheating or something. Im not sure, all I know is the camera I sent him was in great shape. I even recorded video the night before I sent the camera just to make sure there were no issues because I didn't want this bullshit to happen. I have recorded for hours a couple times with the same camera and I had no issues.

perhaps the guy doesn't know GoPros aren't lava proof?

Selling electronics on Ebay can be pretty shady, and Ebay will ALWAYS side with the buyer. It sucks but that's just how it goes. Did this guy have a lot of feedback?

That's lame. I'd refuse to give them any loot and tell them to keep it and get fucked. If ebay wants to tussle they know where to find me.

You just gotta talk a big game and sound tough. They'll back off if they know you don't fuck around.

Did you insure the shipping?

If you did, you can contact UPS or USPS or whoever and say the item was damaged in shipping and have the buyer confirm that it was properly packaged.

Im not sure but I basically told the guy no refund if the camera is damaged. Ill see what he says about it.

should have sold it for bitcoins, then no one could take your money back; and i remember seeing some of your posts you could've totally used the gopro bitcoin monies to buy the drugs of the interweb

or doge too

i guess

because

you know

there's that dog

with the face

Talk to ebay, with seller protection you are covered in this event.

Ebay will ask them to provide evidence that the gopro is broken and how much it will cost to get fixed. Explain to them the condition of the gopro prior to shipping. Always taking pictures of the item working + screen shots of footage recorded on it are always the best and cheapest forms of insurance against this type of bs.

Ask for the camera back, most likely they wont want to cause it'c actually not broken. Ebay cases are usually fair, dont sweat it

WHAT IN THE FUCK, my paypal has a negative ballance of $220. How the hell? this doesn't make any sense.

Ebay said not to pay them and I don't even have my camera, and paypall is just shelling out my money.

It's a scam. They already had a broken one, bought your good one, then file a claim against you hoping to basically stick you with the broken one. Did you keep the serial number? That would really help if you did. If not, tell them you have witnesses that it functioned perfectly wen you packed itproperly and to take up any issues with damage during shipping with the shipping company via. their tracking number. Be sure to provide them with an 800 number for said shipping company, tell them to have a nice day and let them know that will be the last correspondence they will be receiving.

Done and done. Never deal with people you know are trying to fuck with you.

And that, right there, is why you never link the two.

you didnt act too slow.

paypal acts as a middle man whenever any type of dispute gets opened on ebay.

they haven't taken your money, they are just temporarily holding it until the dispute gets resolved. Legally they have to do this. Speaking of legalities, next time you open an account such as ebay or paypal, i highly recommended reading all the shit you are agreeing to before clicking accept and creating an account. If you had of spent 10mins reading, you wouldn't be freaking out right now, and you would know exactly why paypal is holding your money and the steps to resolve said situation. clicking accept is a legally binding contract that you are agreeing upon. you would be surprised what kind of stuff is in there.

if you are signing up for facebook account or something, who gives a fuck, just click accept. But with things like paypal you are dealing with account information, credit cards, international currency exchanges, service fees, potential disputes, shipping costs etc etc etc for sometimes pretty hefty values. personally, i kind of want to know every single detail about how my monies are being handled, hence why i read the whole thing BEFORE agreeing to it.

and even if you were to withdraw the funds from your paypal account prior to the dispute, they still have your financial institutions account information, can still withdraw money from your account, and will still send it to a collection agency if you dont pay outstanding fee's even if there is not any money in your paypal account to begin with. - again, something you would be familiar with if you read the conditions.

you sold something.

buyer claims it is broken.

did the buyer contact you prior to opening a dispute?

no? thats a good thing for you.

did the buyer buy shipping insurance?

no? thats a good thing for you.

you will have to prove that the item has been shipping.

this is extremely easy if you have a tracking number, if not, i hope you kept the receipt.

the buyer will have to prove that the item has been damaged.

if you sold it as-is, then the buyer is fucked, but it must clearly state that in your item description.

when a dispute is opened in ebay you will be emailed with something called "Action pending", this is a type of notification that ebay is awaiting on you for information.

follow them precisely and quickly and you should be fine.

of course, this is all provided you DIDNT actually sell him a busted camera. if you did, then you can suck a dick, i hate people like you online.

if you didnt, youll be fine, ebay and paypals policies are very fair.

Im assuming since you had it listed you have pics of it. If its broken, its going to be obviously broken. Show paypal the pics, they can see the timestamps, and they will usually side with whichever side sounds less sketchy. So be less sketchy. Fuck open a case against them.

Dont give the money back, use whatever proof and power of persuasion you have.

Source: I've beaten 3 (false) claims against me in my ebay days.

Thanks man, I had the camera fully working 100% nothing wrong at all the day I sent the product, and I even recorded video and paged through the settings just to make sure everything was ok because I didn't want any of this to happen. I needed the money and I have multiple cameras. The gopro was the one to go. I wasn't trying to send a broken gopro just so it would be returned, or this claims bullshit would happen. Some guy attempted to rip me off $500 a couple years back so I know how it feels to get fucked over. Thankfully I was able to get my money back that time. Im not going to get fucked over.

I was tripping earlier because my account said I was going to get charged for negative $200 balance but apparently its chill. Thanks man.

I sold my old iphone 5 on eBay and th. Buyer instantly opened a case and I didn't know and I had shipped with shipping but didn't get a notification so I didnt see it in the three days and I had to pay the money back even though I had proof of shipping and they got what they wanted. They scammed me and I said fuck you I'm not paying and eBay closed my account and sent tgeh debt to a collection agenct. But its yet to show up on my credit report so I'm still just telling them to fuck themselves. I hope your situation ends better than mine.

your money is most likely on hold I had it happen to me as well when i sold my xbox some fucker made a claim saying it was broken and all this other shit so I just waited and waited and waited and eventually ebay never made a claim or anything so I just called up ebay they looked at what happened and I explained everything that happened to them on the phone right there and the guy on the phone reviewed it himself. Be nice about it I know it's bullshit but you gotta remember the guy on the phone is the only person that's gonna help you and if ur an ass hole to him he can just say well fuck you and just screw you over so be nice! He said since no claim was ever met he removed the hold on my money and i was able to withdraw it well over a month later or something.

This, i feel bad for you OP, losing money sucks but you acted too slow

you obviously have no fucking clue how paypal and ebay work. Ebay owns paypal and your credit card or banking information is on the paypal account in order to use ebay. So when you say ha can't catch me now fuckers imma just withdraw the money mwhahaha, well they can just charge your credit card and say ha nice try dumb shit and take your money back without any previous notice, so in all it wouldn't matter if you withdrew your money sooner you are still gonna get ass raped just prepare yourself for it. Only way I can think of is if you withdrew and closed your credit card but who the fuck is gonna do that for every single purchase they ever make on ebay? Sorry man but be patient a lot of times it does work out and no ebay does not always side with the buyer.

This is not true, I have been doing transactions and ebay purchases almost every other month on ebay i do not own a credit card and i have zero banking information linked to paypal or ebay. You dont have to use a credit card or bank to buy or sell on ebay. I didnt link any personal banking to paypal or ebay for this exact reason

ok sorry actually good to know thanks

Ya dude I feel so much more relaxed knowing that i dont have everything linked, i usually only buy on ebay not sell but its better. I usually only try to have $30-40 in paypal at a time.

My parents had a decent scam done to them so they kinda "brought" me up to be extra careful with online b/s/t

Luckily I've never had any actual problems where a transaction went bad and usually buy some things off of ebay with credit cards linked to paypal but I see more and more stories and am thinking about doing this. What do you do to put a bit of money on an account at a time? And sorry for going looney on ya i've been sitting in bed for 3 days straight basically after having surgery and it kinda gets to ya.

so do you just not get cash out? You just spend it on paypal?

im like 99% fuckin certain you have to have a paypal account, which has to have a credit card linked, which must be verified, along with your address, to sell absolutely anything on ebay.

you can buy whatever you want, but good luck finding a seller who doesn't only accept paypal as payment. and yes, you dont HAVE to have a credit card linked to your paypal to make payments, but you do have to have paypal linked to a financial institution.

in order to even verify your paypal account paypal makes two small deposits into your banking account which you must collect and in return verify the sums of before using paypal.

if anyone knows a way around this please pm me and i will share with you 50% of the billions of dollars i would be willing to scam online.

also, i mentioned earlier reading all that legal documentation nonsense when signing up for an account. you might have noticed they have your address which is required to set up an account. upon an outstanding balance ebay has legal right to pull your social insurance number for debt collection purposes. so basically, youre fucked.

you can just NOT pay paypal or ebay if you owe them listing fees or they find you guilty in a transaction. they will send your shit to collections or worse, take legal action. period.

I honestly thought i had to have a bank linked as well, but I made one without it

which is understandable if you just plan on keeping your money in your account.

tell me, how do you plan on withdrawing your $40???

13024017:SDrvper said:
I dont! I would either

A (most likely) just spend the money.

B- if i was getting scammed, send the money to my dad's PayPal.

I know OP was in a different situation than me, but even if I was getting scammed and I knew for a fact it was a scam and i had my card linked, I would just cancel my card and close my account

Its easy to reopen a new paypal and easy to get a new credit card, its not easy to get back $200 that has been stolen

op isnt getting scammed tho. the buyer doesn't have his money. paypal does.

and you cant do fuck all with your paypal account. Im pretty sure you can only make purchases up to $100. AND you had to verify your address for shipping. which means they know where you live nikkah.

regardless, you cant just cancel your card and close your account to avoid things you dont like on paypal.

As mentioned, they will go to collections or take legal action.

13024042:SDrvper said:
Ya true, but paypal only has his money because they are the "middleman" and the buyer wanted to claim his money.

We are sorta getting off topic, regardless of all this OP is still in a shit situation

i disagree.

op is fine. and if he was as honest and truthful as he claims to have been than paypal will release his money in a couple of days.

not a huge deal.

op you're screwed. selling stuff on ebay is never worth it, unless you're selling real cheap stuff

What does this mean? My paypal ballance is positive, and it says "transaction completed" -$210.00 from bank account.

However I have no money missing from my account. This guy won't send back the gopro he is a fucker, I have offered to try and fix it, but I told him I couldn't guarantee a refund if the camera isn't recoding. The case is apparently still open.

The thing is ebay keeps telling me not to refund the guy until I receive the gopro, and if this guy decided to send it back why not try and figure out the problem and help him out if there is an actual issue. I wanted to try and help him out to be nice, but this guy wont send the camera back. There for I am not sending money.

Call Ebay and talk to them. Print out all correspondence that you had with the buyer so that you can reference it. Neither Ebay nor Paypal have proof that the camera is broken other than what the buyer said, so they can't withhold your money. Threaten to file FTC reports against Ebay, sound like a bad ass.

I took out my money but they put my account on hold with a negative ballance. I already transferred the money before this all happened. Now I do not have a negative balance, but it says transaction completed, although the case is still open.

Even if I did take my money out they would go after my bank account.
