Easily find good edits from searched mountains

is there a way you can go into the search bar and type in " Loon Mountain " and it would pull up all edits from loon mountain, and have them put up in rank?

Negative. Our search is a piece of shit.

Its been a long time dream of mine to have this type of functionality, but as of current we haven't been able to allocate the time/money for the large amount of work it would take to do it.

Maybe a feature that allows you to select locations for edits and view edits by location could be implemented rather than updating the search bar?

Would still (probably) be quite a bit of work, It might be easier to divide something like that up regionally at first then work out the kinks and exact location later.

If every single person who visited the site turned off adblock we could do it.

Just block ad-block.

Honestly, people just like to bitch. I've been using newschoolers without ad block since I started and I'm not going anywhere.

Keep in mind the majority of users on here are wealthy white kids. They love to complain about slight inconveniences.

I mean we have considered blocking adblock. There is logic inside the idea that if everyone is going to use adblock that publishers just start blocking those people. In a way that would simply be Karma righting itself.

However, at the time being that isn't our strategy. I'd like to pursue other ideas before we go there.

The funny part about AdBlock is that what is going to happen all across the internet is content that is just crafty advertising. Its the hottest new thing right now, and all publishers are starting to have to do it.

So the result for people using adblock is that they're going to completely ruin the idea of separating your content and advertising. The more you use adblock, the more sponsorship will be integrated into content.

It was nice when you could actually keep separation as a brand where ads were ads and content was content.

I've noticed a push towards this in recent years. Definitely not a fan, as it's not only ruining the content itself, but it's making it harder to know what is an ad and what isn't.

And I'll be damned if I passively consume ads while watching my favorite skiers lol

Inb4 newschoolers heads towards an Orwellian future. Enter subliminal ski advertising.

Oh dude, its happening. The pressure is everywhere. As soon as other media start to sell it you get crazy pressure to start the same yourself. With adblock, brands start to not want banners, other media offers advertorial (seen special advertising sections in Magazine buyers guides lately?) and the cycle gets crazy.

We're going to do our best as soon as we start doing more sponsored content to have it clearly marked as advertising... but I don't see a future right now where you can survive in media without at least coming up with your own way to play the game.

The consumers want to block ads? No problem... ram the ads into the content so to block ads they wouldn't be able to read content.

Sad... but happening.

You do have to consider why consumers are moving towards ad-block and actively trying to get rid of ads. In many cases advertisements were already taking away from content or being obnoxious. We see now cases where Ad Block is allowing some advertisements to come through. I can definitely see parallels between Tivo, skipping through advertisements and ad block. I'm curious how widespread ad block even is?
