Earning your turns in Summit County?

I live in Breck and am just getting in to the touring game and really wanna find some good spots around Summit County, CO to skin up for some good turns. Not looking to poach anyone's secret spots but who has some advice for me?

You live in Breck and had to come onto NS to find places to tour? Really dude? I know of a bunch of REALLY, REALLY popular touring zones in and around Summit County and I have never gone touring there.

you should probably stick to the park for now.

This is a great time to head out into the BC into new spots. Great time.

You may want to pick out your casket color and tombstone design now...

Now is like the exact wrong time to ask about that. Avy danger is super high right now and it sound slike you don't even have a partner. If you want to get into touring, get a free pass at A Basin and learn your gear in bounds before or after the lifts open, meet people with experience, and ask them to show you the ropes.

Don't die. I'm also getting interested in starting in touring, but now is definitely not the time.

Never said I was going out soon. I'm not sure how anyone in this area isn't aware of the avy danger that exists right now. I didn't even bother to buy some of the essential gear yet because of this. I am also aware of the popular spots some of you have so kindly brought up but I was more so asking about other spots that aren't so obvious.

And why would you want to know about lesser known zones if you aren't going touring? Baby steps dude.

Didn't think it would hurt to be aware of some cool spots so I can take advantage in the future when conditions are right. Just for reference I am educated on avalanche safety but this was probably the wrong time to create this thread. I was just hoping to hear from some fellow freeskiers who may have a different perspective than most on local zones.

dont listen to these kids!^ they have NEVER earned a turn, except 40hobart!first, there are countless spots inside breck that are hike accessible and amazing!

when you are ready, gather some friends that actually shred, and dont talk about it on ns. then you all go to abasin where i believe they have beacons buried for training. learn how to use them, learn how to use all of your equipment fast. your crew needs to be on point or you will die, and or your entire crew. take avy courses, research, be smart. remember if there is ever a problem, you will need to be able to get your friend to safety.

fourth of july bowl is dope. especially cuz you can brag and show everyone your turns from the streets of breck! even in the middle of summer...

loveland pass. drive to the top, park and shred. you can go in any direction, and its very easy to get lost. study maps and directions before you drop in, know what road you expect to come out on, and make sure you have plenty of day light to hike out and hitchhike back to your car.

Tittysprinkles is my own personal zone. even if i told you where it was, you wouldnt make it anyway.

If you get all your gear together, and find an experienced local who will take you out, you will begin to learn where the better spots are. Baby steps. Baby Steps.

"you could get killed crossing the road", does that mean you dont cross the road?

i count my blessing to be alive...

I was talking about you. However, common sense would say that with all of the snow that CO has gotten, skiing Independence Pass in the middle of winter could be a poor choice for terrain selection before the snow transitions into spring snowpack.

i haven't gone out touring yet this year, the snowpack is so unstable right now. All the snow from january will make for some huge slides that im not looking to get caught in.

once the snow warms up a bit though it'll be dope, like spring time ish,

Well, from the looks of it, there were a bunch of them, in a close group, in an avalanche path, on a borderline extreme danger day...

Don't get me wrong, it sucks what happened. But you do shit like that it is bound to happen. And I am talking from personal experience on that one.
