Ear pad removal

I have a giro emerge MIPS helmet (I'm not sure what year but probably like 2019 or 20) and I don't know if I'm just an idiot or what but I can not figure out how to remove the ear pads with out destroying the entire helmet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
 
The earpads unclip by pulling them towards the middle of the helmet, away from the shell. It'll unclip with two small snaps.

I got that far but the whole thing is still connected in the back of the helmet under where the google clip thing is.
