Dynastar Trouble Makers

Hey thinking of getting a pair of these but want to know from people who have had or have them if they are solid skis. Mainly intrested in spinning and so are light enough to throw a nice 5 or heavy as hell and not worth money???

i read a thread about this and they said it was amazing at everything in th park and good at all mountain, but they said the only bad thing is that theyre noodles

Great skis. They're one of my all-time favorites. Regarding the noodle thing, that was because of the topsheet they've used for the last two years. After a while it loses its snap. But the original topsheet, which the 06-07s are using, still hasn't lost any life on me (I have the original 03-04s.)

i jus got last years and they dont seem too soft or too stiff... they almost have the same flex as 04/05 ar5's but a little stiffer i think

i just bought last years for $200, supposedly a great all around ski but yeah i've heard the old ones have edge problems. i heard the new ones were almost identical to previous years except the edge problem was solved.

this so called "edge problem" wasnt solved until this year. i rode my 0405s and they had no probs at all on rails, not even a crack.

from someone who builds skis, the topsheet material has very little effect on flex. that is controled entirely by the core and fiberglass. the problem with the trouble makers, is that they use a Horizontal (think plywood style) core. the problem with this, is that the flex is mostly controled via the glue joints, and over time, these glue joints break down, resulting in a softer, less poppy flex. another thing to note, is since glues used to build skis are MUCH heavier than any other material in the ski, laminating the surface area of the core like that results in a good deal more glue being used. the TM is not super light. mostly, vs other skis, its lighter because its fairly thin, and pretty narrow at 75 waist. this somewhat counteracts the glues weight, but i could still feel it.

while all that sounds real bad and everything, the TM is a dope ski. thy carve great, pop like nothing else off trannies (found them much harder to quickly load up for ollies than V lam skis though), handle speed fine, and feel great in the air. i felt the pintail design made them nose heavy on rails, but its nelgible.

bottom line, TMs are dope skis, but do not expect them to last very long, a season if your lucky. however, dynastar was great with warrenties for me, so i wouldnt fret over it too bad. they are def good skis. also, you sound like your pretty fresh into the sport, and wont be beating the piss outta them too hard, so they should be fine. id reccomend them.

Since you make skis, I'll take your word for it. I do know, however, that I had the 04s (shiny topsheet) and my brother had the 05s (rubbery topsheet.) We ski at the same level (I probably even had more days on snow than he did), and by the end of last season his were noodles and mine still felt great.

yea, different batches of skkis hold up diff, specially with those. they seemed to be very incosistant quality. mine held up awesome to rails, some didnt. some loss their pop super fast, some keep it a bit longer. id be willin to bet it was strictly by coincidence.

I just thought, maybe you should look at the Big Troubles. They're basically the same ski, just wider and stiffer. I've heard good things, even though I've never riddent them.
