Hey I may be going to school down in Durango next year and I was wondering if any of you are from down there or have skied down there much, and was wondering what you thought of the skiing? Any park at Purgatory or anything? And when the season usually starts and ends? Thanks

Durango is rad... I am there a couple of times during the year. I haven't ever skied there, but there is a TON of rad things to do.. biking, kayaking, fishing. I don't know what you are into, but if you are a hippy, you will be in like sin in Durango.

We gonna whack it til the wheels fall off.

one of my best friends goes to school and lives out thurr...says its absolutely amazing

durango mtn resort is pretty awesome, it has great scenry and its a pretty fun mtn, last time i was tthere like 5 years ago they had a little park but id imagine its grown some, you have telluride a few hrs away, and wolf creek too, but durango mtn resort is a fun place and youll have fun

I HAD MY BAR MITZVAH ON NS

I lived in Durango a couple years ago and the skiing was pretty good. You have Silverton which isn't but an hour away, durango mtn which is fun, but you also have wolf creek which gets by far the most snow i have ever seen. When i was there for a week straight they had 2 feet of fresh powder every day. Oh T-ride isn't to far away either i think a couple hours.

Durango is a cool town and Fort Lewis campus is dope. DMR/Purgatory isn't cool. Silverton is really close. There is good terrain to ski at Molas Pass if you have a sled. There are some super sick couloirs on the north side of the pass. Go there so I can have a place to party in Durango.

I live in Durango and it's a gret town. The back country skiing is awesome most of the year, Purgatory is getting better with their park, but its still sucks compaired to say Vail or Breck, Teluride is 2 hours away with a good park, Wolf Creek has a ton of snow every year and is a very fun place to go ski, Both are awesome ski areas. the season lasts from about thanksgiving to mid April depending on snow fall. this year we got hammered with snow so skiing was insane.

the backcountry around durango is always insane....on the main highway theres dank dank backcountry on both Molas and Coal Bank Passes, Molas is an awesome place to build huuuuge rolling booters because the ground just rolls perfectly. Coal Bank has some excellent hike to terrain that is steep and deep and not that hard to get to. Plus you sit right outside the Weminuche Wilderness area, which is the greatest wildnerness area anywhere, plus what everyone said about T-Ride, Silverton, DMR, and Wolf Creek....but mainly, its all about the backcountry

i am going to the fort and skied at purg last season the park has three tiny little jumps like 40 feet max and the pipe was unridable for most of the year i got one good day in the pipe thr rails are made very poorly by kids at the local highschool but the snow overall hear is really good lots of powder days , when i wanted to ride park i want to breck and keystonethe school is good but there is a shit load of hippies

There are very good places to build kickers up Molas, Coal Bank or Red Mountain pass and its only about 45 minuets out of town. The town does not get that much snow, but it all depends on the year.
