Dumb/vague question: How many features on the average run at Key/Breck?

just looking for an average, during mid season about how many rails/jumps/boxes/etc are on a normal run. Like at my last mountain my favorite run had about 12 features with a shit load of skiing between each.

thanks

Well at Keystone you've got:

-Full sized run

-Park begins, Choice between small, medium, and big, then pipe on far left

-Another full sized run below

Small

~15 total rails and boxes of all shapes

~3-4 small jumps

Medium

5-6 jumps ranging from 10-30ish feet

Maybe 25 rails and boxes

Quarter Pipe and tree jibs

Large

3 jumps from ~40-60ish feet

10ish fairly technical large rail features

Pipe and 'Jib Yard'

~15 features of varied random style and condition - basically just a weird cluster of extras in my opinion

-Large pipe that is not that great

Breck is similar, but you have a longer run and the park is at the bottom

Small

~8 total rails and boxes of all shapes

~3-4 small jumps

Mini pipe and mini quarter pipe

Medium

6 jumps ranging from 10-40ish feet

Maybe 25 rails and boxes

More open space that Keystone, but not much more

Large

3 jumps from ~60-80ish feet

15ish technical large rail features

Huge quarter pipe

Enormous and spectacular superpipe filled with pros training for X

There is also another small park on Peak 9 that has about 10 rails/boxes and some small jumps, it's actually kind of fun too :)

damn dude thanks for taking the time to put that together... so at either place, you have to do a lot of normal skiing before you reach the park, right? or is there rope tows or anything?

i would say that park lane in breck (medium) probably has about fifteen rails and boxes, not twenty five, and last year freeway (large) only had 5 rails and boxes...

and there is no way that breck has more open space in their parks than keystone???

mini park on peak nine has 4 rails/boxes and three jumps.

if you go to keystone there are a fuck load more features than at breck. its crazy how much stuff keystone has.

and at breck you have to ski a fair amount before the parks, especailly if lines are bad and you have to traverse. but keystone has a dedicated park lift, so no actual skiing is required unless you ride the gondola or montezuma lift.

At keystone the park is sort of in the upper middle part of the mountain. So from the gondola you have to ski down a little bit to the park (or you can take the peru lift straight to the top of it) After that, they have the A51 lift so pretty much all you can ski is park unless you want to ski down to the bottom (which is pretty far).
At breck they sort of have a park lift, lift 5. It was closed for like half the season last year though. It takes you from the base of peak 8 right to the top of park lane, the freeway entrance is skiers right about 500 feet. Without lift 5 you can take colorado or rocky mountain...colorado backs the fuck up though most days and rocky mountain requires you to traverse. Both lifts take you to the top and you have to ski down a little more than half the mountain to get to the park.
Breck's park last year was way more linear than keystone's. It was laid out more like jumps, rails, rails/jumps, rails, then rails/jumps. Keystone's park is wider, breck's is longer but narrower. Keystone has 4 separate park runs, all very different and they all dump into the same lift. Breck only has 2 park runs that dump into the same place (on peak 8 at least). Probably why I thought breck was more fun last year, but I'm sure someone will argue against that.

i will argue with you on that lol. Breck has more jumps and better jumps than Keystone, but Keystone has way more rails and boxes than Breck. The variety of boxes and rails is bigger at Keystone also. The lift situation is 800 times better at Keystone, with a private park lift that is quick. The vibe at Keystone is also a lot more laid back and fun. Breck also gets a shit ton of wind which is never fun. Keystone's cool because you can weave your way through the medium park (which has 2-3 lanes of features in it) and make your own little fun line. Keystone also has jumps in between rail sections which gives it a fun little slopestyle feel. I usually hit about 12 features on a typical run at Keystone, sometimes more, sometimes less. That's my 2 cents

sick, so far I've only skied in New Jersey and Pennsylvania so this should be a big change. I'm actually getting nervous thinking about it ahaha its like going to the big leagues or something

Once I get to the park at keystone I pretty much don't leave until the end of the day, just lap the park lift. Sometimes take the occasional run down go devil but that's pretty much it. Can't wait for this season to start ahhh!

Sweet, me adn 2 mates are makin the trip from aus to keystone for a few weeks in jan, renting a place in keystone. Caaant wait its gunna be awesome. Hope to ski at breck a few times to

hahaha if I ever go down the "big" line it will be as a spectator only. I need to get a lot better before I attempt any of that stuff, but I'm psyched none the less

Key has more "stuff" in the park, mostly snowboard type jibs. I don't hate on keystone but I used to like it alot more when i boarded.

Breck has better park lines. I can probably get twice the amount of hits at breck than at key. Personal favorite is first two jumps in freeway, cross through the woods to park lane, then you can hit 2 or three rails, then 2 or 3 boxes, then some handrails or the bottom two jumps.

I think the flow is better, and at keystone I always find myself skiing left to right and all over the place to get to the next feature im gunna hit. Ganted I don't hit keystone big line and the hits through there look pretty well setup.
