Dumb Locals

ive been hitting up a lot of midwest hills over the season. Every one that i have gone to there has been a group of good newschoolers but they dont want to ski with you cuz its their "terf". im not bad at skiing but im far from being awesome basically the same as these locals. i understand it in CO and the west but has anyone else had the problems of locals not wanting to ski.

It could be an issue of being anti social...or fear of you riding better?

I'm not quite sure, everyone is friendly here in utah

its like that in most places...actually accept where i ski everyones legit with each other.....just gotta deal with it and dont let it get you down.

im pretty happy my local park isnt like that, and the tiny hill has mostly park riders, so its not like theres only 2 or 3 of us, everyone accepts other jibbers right off and we all try to help out the younger or new jib skiers. its a pretty sick community.

that definitely does not happen in CO i dont know how you got that. but those kids are just fags, who cares go in "their turf"

Thats pretty stupid. When I was learning to ski park where I live everyone was real helpful. Its never crowded here, that might have helped. Its always fun to make new friends, especially if they can teach you new stuff or help you refine your technique. On the other hand I think most folks are pretty receptive to me offering up whatever advice I might have. The only time people will refuse to ski with you around here is backcountry, and that is mainly because you need certain skills and knowledge that not everyone has...its kind of a being able to trust you with my life thing.

ya mt snow has sum "gangs" who roll through the park in heards of about 10 young adults snaking the shit outa people and talkin smack....some r real legit skiers throwin down some nice hits, but since park skiing exploded in the last couple years kids have just got grimy and skiing isnt the same when your surrounded by people like that

I'm the teler in the white jacket, lime green pants. Unfortunately I'm out for the season due to a broken femur. (Third Booter in Moonshine- 720, landed 90 degrees on the knuckle).

But I'll be up for Closing day, and Malay Day @ Vail next Thursday. What do you wear? Obviously, I'll be the kid on crutches.

thats were it happend bro. the locals there are "too cool"

Sundown here in iowa is where i ride and my friends will ride with any guy lookin to shred.

I'm having a hard time believing that someone would claim a park to be theres. Everyone in here has said they're stoked to ski with anyone else, and I agree. So where are these assholes trying to claim the park as their turf?

ok maybe i worded it wrong but they are acting like its theirs and that you shouldnt be skiing there. Tyrol Basin Wis. is were its at you go up to their crew and say whats up and they ski away. they just try to find something wrong with you so u dont make them look bad. Seasons over for me so theres nothing that can really be done anymore.

dude i know, i mean with backcountry, well thats a little differrent, but shit man, park?

as long as you're not a gaper their a bunch of tools

Ya what the fuck, that's just disgusting.

We have some fags like that where I live, but then we also got a lot of rela nice chill kids, like Kohl, and some other Stevens Pass riders.

Peole really should try to get out of the park, there's entire mountains out there.

nothing really like that at good old snowstar lol chestnut is like that tho i dunno it seems when i ski there and me and my friends are killin the park everyone just stares and scowls at us i dunno

snowstar is my home place tho

yeah usually if i go somewhere, or at least in vail and squaw valley (my ski vactions other than skiing at mt bachelor) i made friends with at least some local kids by the end of the day

locals are just like that. People in the east are usually pretty welcoming, until you start to discover "their" stashes. Most people out west seem pretty welcoming though.

i know there is more to the mountain than the park but here in the midwest that is the only thing worth riding for. Im not some 12 year old kid wishing i was like "the big guys" and goin up and buggin em. I figuired id be able to find some chill dudes to ride with and maybe learn something from but that didnt happen. When i was in Breck and keystone and BC for vacation i didnt really join in with any of the guys cuz they were in huge groups and some of em were pro or should have been so i didnt bug them but ive always found it hard to just ski with some random guys....

kid just sack up and make an effort. no one is gunna shut you down unless you are a pro whore 12 y/o, i prefer to ski alone, but honestly just lapping the park all day you meet people and take a few runs with them, its not that hard,

yea some kids can be fags like that around here

but most of the time if you just go to talk to them its ok

I could see if they built some rails and kickers in the backcountry somewhere but how the hell do you claim the park to theirs?? They don't own it and pay to ski there like everyone else.

mannnn, you just gotta throw down and shove it in their faces! But did they seriously say it was "their terf/mountain"??? because that is completely wack. wack enough to wack them in their heads! Out here in CO everyone is chill, we all laugh and have a fun time.... and if some kid is acting mean then hes usually from out of town and thinks hes hot shit, so we just ignore him.
