Dumb college kid. what should i have done?

I like shooting things, never had the opportunity to shoot a person, seems like no better time. Also what does it mean when someone is his natural state?

obviously.

but imagine you were OP and in that scenario, you end up taking that guys life.

would you think otherwise about it then or still blame that poor drunkard?

It doesn't matter, because even supporters of home defense would recognize the stupidity of suggesting using a weapon against a completely incapacitated person. Everything you're discussing has nothing to do with the story, you're just antagonizing for who knows what reason.

Well, as a responsible gun owner, I wouldn't shoot someone unless I felt my life, or the life of my family was in danger, so the intruder would have had to haven taken aggressive action towards me before he would be fired upon. In the event that such happened, I wouldn't feel bad in the slightest, and yes, I would blame the drunkard.

ummmm....OP asked what you guys would have done to which I responded greeted him with my 9. no one is suggesting shooting the intruder under the circumstances as they happened to unfold in this scenario.

haha 40 bucks, sick.

I probably would have tried to get him out because I would be worried of him stealing shit, but if he wouldn't leave I would put him somewhere and watch him until I was sure he would be out and then wake up early and wake him up and get him out.

Im sure you wouldnt worry about him stealing your shoes you fucking hippy! lolololol

On a side note: I bet if this kid was black OP would have definately called the cops.

we had a similar event happen to us, some random kid all of the sudden was in our circle smoking, we told him it was PCP joking, but he was pretty wasted i think he thought we were serious. so he then proceeded to take off his shirt and sit there with his had down his pants. We got his drunk ass up off the couch and told him he had to leave. 5 minutes later we open the door and the kid is perched up on our front porch so we told him to get out of here.

then he proceeded to walk up the street, fell into someones yard, security guards saw him, called the cops and ambulance. he got his stomach pumped and thats the last we saw of him.

tl;dr;

Similar story to OP, we discovered no one knew this random kid in our house, told him he was smoking PCP and he freaked out, left, passed out in someones yard and got picked up by the ambulence.

If some drunk college kid came stumbling in to my place, I'd probably give him a blanket and pillow let him sleep on the couch.Possibly with a bucket and a glass of water beside him. But, only if I couldn't figure out where he actually lived to get him home.

I suppose I'd let the roommates know what was going on as well.

If it was someone older and/or more sketchy and they busted into my place I'd be more along the lines of freaking the fuck out and grabbing a bat, but probably wouldn't get close enough to the person to take a swing unless they started attacking me.

OP, I think you did the right thing in this scenario.

This kid's lucky you didn't call Zed over...

i'm yet to see one gun ownership post that doesn't make the person out to be an entitled dickhead who thinks he's hot shit because he has a gun and feels the need to flaunt it whenever possible.

Same goes for people against gun ownership... Only difference is that they're flaunting their opinionated egos instead of a gun.

i think you read in to things a little too much. but hey, what do I know? I'm just an entitled dick head....entitled to protect my person, family, and property against intrusion. And I'm OK with that.

Yeah he started to pull down his pants but i said no get out then he just said nah dude its fine then went and laid down on my couch.

no. its the same "logical" argument.

some rational people draw a line that puts guns in the atomic bomb, daisy cutters side and pencils, baseball bats on the other side.

others say guns are ok, but atomic bombs are too much.

so whats the point?

weapons of mass destruction =/= arms. while not explicitly defined, a common- law definition would be "light infantry weapons which can be carried and used, together with ammunition, by a single militiaman, functionally equivalent to those commonly used by infantrymen in land warfare.

Hmm... Because have a couple horror stories (thanks to the powers that be I'm here right now - had an incredibly scary situation over the summer) I would have gotten out of my house and called the cops. You never know what a drunk person will do - whether they seem harmless or not, I'm not one to take chances these days.

He's lucky it was not my house. He would have had a hole in his head and I would have been filling out a police report.

why do you act like logic is just something you can experience and why dont you bother thinking your own arguments through so there arent 50 holes and assumptions in there.

tell me straight up whats so "dumb" about that argument if youre so much more intelligent.

one could argue that i can protect myself A LOT better with a nuke. simply plant it somewhere hidden in a big city, with a password protected countdown that only i can stop.

i guess a lot of people would be very nice to me in this case. but apparently nukes are "over the line".

"while not explicitly defined". thats the case.

there was this huge shitstorm about "nazifornia" a while ago when california outlawed the unconcealed carry of long-barreled weapons.

i think that we can say that guns are as problematic as those weapons not included in your definition.

i dont see why i am stupid, dumb or whatever (more to phaedeD than directed at you). i just draw a line at another spot.

this is no qualitative difference.

it's not my definition. that's how it's been interpreted by scholars, supreme court justices, etc. and if you are honestly trying to say that guns are as problematic as weapons of mass destruction, then I can't even take you seriously.

speaking of making money off drunk poeople,

I'm about to start working nights, gonna be bored as shit on nights off (10pm-6am) ..... maybe I'll be a incognito local taxi and make $ giving drunks a ride home.

got a couple of friends who do this. they go with two people and one car and one of them will drive you and your car home while the other follows...and then they move on to the next guy. it's pretty legit...you don't have to drive drunk and don't have to worry about not having your car in the am.

yes i know and this definition is pretty easy to make apparently for most of you.

this is just an example of very extreme cases but the level of abstraction ability is critically low in here.

for dummy language:

naskljdaspfj djf ölkdsjf öldjgl ködf gfdsg sdf

since you can read anything but understand nothing anyways.

i am out

i totally understand where you were going with this, but you would have had a better chance making your case with guns vs. rocket launchers. i mean, nukes? Only the president and the Secretary of Defense hold nuclear launch codes, and they must be jointly issued, so to even try and argue as an extreme example of "arms" is just ludicrous.

the problem there is that i am afraid/unsure that A LOT of stuff is legal in the US, so without researching i had to go to the extreme example

but at least you know understand my point

Okay so I go to college in the city, and the area has a shit load of crime. So if someone breaks into my place I am hiding my ass and calling the cops ASAP. In your situation once you establish he was just a kid who was way to drunk I would of tried to do what you did and use his phone to call his friend. But since that couldn't work out, I think I would of called the cops and go him out of there. Sorry but I just don't think I trust some random stranger to crash at my place.

:"Drunk kid stumbles into my house"

turns into

"I need a nuke to prevent drunk kid from stumbling into my house"

hahaha.

If you're so self admittedly ignorant of what the gun ownership laws are in this country then how can you be so anti-gun rights?

not really a question but more of an observation i guess...
