i wanna buy a camera and dont have too much money to spend, probably no more then $650. i already have a gopro, but i want something i can make better looking edits with. looking at a t3i but i hear theres good camcorders for doing stuff like this too. thoughts?

I've had a Panasonic TM700 (camcorder) for the past few years and I got a T3i a year ago. They both have advantages and disadvantages for sure. The camcorder shoots 1080p at 60 frames which is fucking nice and the image stabilization comes in handy when I don't have time to set up a tripod. The T3i allows me more control though so I've been using it more recently.

If you want to see the TM700 in action, basically all my videos were shot on one. There are a few T3i shots in there too.

But it isn't. It doesn't have an OVF. It has no reflex mirror.

It not having an optical view finder just means you can now put the viewfinder up to your eye when shooting video to get an accurate image of your exposure and color so you don't have to rely on an inaccurate lcd

And it also means it's not a dslr which was my main point.

OVF is superior to those tiny periscopes that overlook lag city central.

Besides if you so desperately need to see live exposure you are a fuccboi, learn to read exposures by eye or at least Histograms.

Actually that isn't me lol.

And omnidata is right. It's not a dslr but a dslt because the mirror doesn't move, due to the mirror being translucent. I don't agree with the lag part tho. Mine is perfectly fine with no noticeable lag.

no lag and is a beatiful oled viewfinder, this camera is made for action photo and video, also with the no reflex mirror you get good accurate autofocus during video

I've used one, there is lag and it's tiny bloody fucking tiny.

Autofocus during video is not even needed.
