Dslr | LCD viewfinders

Search bared and didn't find any specifically on this. I missed a thread, my bad. My question is, are LCD Viewfinders really worth the price? $180 seems like a ton of money to be dropping for a viewfinder. I have noticed in the sun that it's pretty hard to get my exposure and focus on point but haven't had to big of a problem with it, but I haven't shot anything on snow though yet. I think it'd be nice to have a LCDVF but can someone on here tell me if it's really worth the price. Or should I just be spending my money on better glass and things.

make your own man, its basically free and the one i did works amazing. go to my profile, click on my threads...and it should be the first or second one at the top..

aren't you talking about buying a second LCD screen for your camera? Not talking about a hoodman or other such thing to see your on-camera screen better, right?

Wasn't talking about monitors but I saw that for $230 you can pic up a pretty decent one. Which might be cool way down the road. I think I'm just gonna buy a $50 buck knock off loupe of ebay

word, I thought you were talking about buying a second screen, not one of those screen shade viewfinder things.

They are nice for filming in direct sunlight. Other than that, I don't see much use for them unless you're shooting something longer than a wide and aren't using any stabilization (it adds a third point of contact). For $400, my Z-Finder was pretty steep, and it has saved my ass a few times, but I really wish I had waited and dropped another $100 to get a Redrock Viewfinder.

You'll be fine with a cheapo one. Some camera products really aren't rocket science, even if the companies would like you to believe in order to justify the hefty price tag...

I find that mine really helps me focus a lot better and quicker than before. It also helps stabilize the dslr if you don't already have a rig and are shooting handheld. I recommend buying one.
