Drum Major

So here's the scenario. I really want to be the drum major at my school and part of the application process is to write a letter to my band teacher. the problem is that there is one kid who is the favorite by a long shot to get the post. I kinda want to say something in my letter to throw him off of the one kid. any suggestions?

I'm sorry, I'm in band and I can't understand why you would want to be the drum major.

At my school it's always the kid that the teacher guilts into it.

For each is own, but I'd rather play music than be the gay guy with a stick and a whistle.

Don't bash him or you for sure won't get the post. Those tactics show poor leadership skills which I'm sure is not what your band teacher is looking for in a drum major. You need to highlight what makes you a good leader and what you would do to improve the band. Best of luck to you!
