Drop-in Without Soap?

Alright so I've been thinking about building a drop-in for the summer, but I have a little problem... My dad doesn't want me to kill the lawn so I can't use any soap on my drop-in. Do you guys think that using the stickied drop-in tut as a basic guideline, and using just water, I could get enough speed for a 16ft rail or so?
 
yes. i usually don't soap it, just use water, but sometimes i do and it helps. the soap goes on the turf and won't touch the grass anyway. what you can do instead is wax your rail - helps sooo much. just get an old candle and rub it all over the pvc. then spray it with water. makes it so fast. it still depends on your drop in though. mine is 6 feet high, and my yard is 100% flat. i just set up all my rails / box yesterday to make a 30ft rail and still had tons of speed at the end. the wax is what really did it (remember wax then wet) and the soap definatly helps too but as long as you keep it wet you will be fine.
 
yeah, i really only use water. My set up is 6ft tall and it gets me plenty of speed for 20ft flat rail. The only time i use soap is if i have more then 30 ft of rail or a up rail.
 
Yeah I know I'm bringing back an old thread but my dad said the same thing. What I do if I'm not getting enough speed is to take an old fashion bar of soap and rub it down the whole run. Then when you get it wet it goes faster and you don't get any on the lawn!

Using this, your drop in doesn't have to be built as high and it doesn't have to be as steep. Get some warm weather wax like orange and just rub it on the lattice. Re apply wax the same way if it ever starts to get slow.
