"Drive" one of the greatest movies I have seen this year

Even in a year of pretty mediocre movies, this one did not stand out. Started out really well and then just got boring as shit, save a couple moments.

this exactly. As my friend has said it shouldn't be called drive, it should have been called "stare awkwardly at nothing in particular".

Its the greatest movie I've seen period, but it seemed like people either loved it or hated it. Check out "Bronson", its by the same director and has a similar feel.

This was a pretty fucking amazing movie. Was more intense than I thought, defiantly a awesome movie and the main character was just such a badass

loved this movie. the whole thing mad me feel uneasy, almost uncomfortable. but that also added to why i liked it so much. i cant really explain it. i really really liked it but i have no desire whatsoever to see it again.

i'm with the people who say it was boring. the 80's music was creative and some of the cinematography made it interesting, but the acting was sub-par for the lead characters. the supporting roles were acted out somewhat well tho. 2.5 stars

i respectfully disagree with you, although i thought this was a decently good movie, it didnt have what i was looking for. it was too slow and not fast paced enough for me, the lack of dialogue as well kind of didn't work out for me. either way, wasn't horrible but wasn't what i thought it was going to be...

hands down it is the best movie of 2011.

i was blown away by it. its so good on so many levels.

fresh on RT does not a good film make. and if you call expressionless faces and blah line delivery good acting then sure goslings a terrific actor

im pretty sure thats just how the movie was meant to feel. not expressionless or bland like you said, but i think gosling absolutely killed it.

You're stupid.

When you get 212 critics with 196 of them positive, I'm pretty sure that tells something don't you think?

Those guys watch and rate movies as a JOB, they are paid because their abilities to recognize good directing, acting, cinematography and such are on point.

As for Gosling, plz watch his filmography and get back to me:

- Ides of March

- Blue Valentine

- Fracture

- Half Nelson

- Lars and the Rear Girl

And Terrence Malick wants him for his next film, which tells a lot.

fair enough, but imho it wasn't a very good film. i will have to check out gosling's other films as i've only seen remember the titans, the notebook and drive. and critics are also paid to spew bullshit and RT's critics aren't all well-known, qualified critics. so that's why you get a lot of shit movies that score 90% and a lot of decent movies that end up rotten or below 80%. and i'm not stupid btw.

I didn't like this movie at all(not implying it was bad). Seems like a cult film. I find it funny how some movies I can hate so much yet my friends love like the big lewboski, drive, and the worst.... the men who stare at goats.

I thought it was good. Obviously not the sort of movie that's going to appeal to someone looking for an acton packed blockbuster, but I thought this was way more intense. The stomping scene in particular was super intense. I also enjoyed the lack of dialouge.

^ thats exactly what i thought of it

its basically the opposite of a michael bay movie, so expect good acting and no explosions

It is most definitely not the antithesis of some Michael Bay esque flick. Retro noir with a peppering of action with some good acting and some compelling parts isn't the complete opposite of appeal to lowest-common-denominator action flick, and it certainly doesn't help that 2/3 of the flick is dull and probably better suited for some miniseries on HBO because it was hallow as fuck as it was.

i saw it with a bunch of friends and they all thought it was the most boring shitty movie. i respected the filming and the acting but some parts were too drawn out and even with a movie that stylized they could've expanded the plot a little more and made it a bit less predictable

i'm glad they used nightcall in it though, at some point the whole world needed to hear that song

Just above average. Gosling did a good job. For a while he did not speak a word which somehow helped build his character a little bit. It was an interesting movie but I would definitely not say the best of the year. and DEFINITELY not the best I have ever seen.

If Drive is the best movie you have ever seen, you are missing out on a fuck ton of incredible movies.

Brilliant film in my opinion. It was different to the way the trailer portrayed it as; which is good cause I thought it was going to be a shitty adrenaline junky/action film.

this movie was so awkward to watch.

IMO it sucked and had a couple driving scenes which werent that good

i thought it would have been better if that stock car played a role in the last few scenes

Drive was an amazing movie. It's not a movie you watch for the action or something. You watch it for how it was directed - and the director did an awfully good job.

Go watch the movie 'Le Havre' and then tell me what you think.

Imo it was a good film. completely different from the trashy fast and furious films but still enough action to hold your attention. maybe its just an age or level of concentration thing. i watched it on my own and so was entirely focused on it but i dont think it would work amazing to sit and watch with friends, it just doesnt strike me as that kind of film.

didnt read any of this thread, but the car chase WITHOUT music and that girl getting blown away in the hotel room were well worth the price of admission.

It was raw, it was violent, and the music was awesome. I absolutely adored it. The scene on the beach when he was wearing the mask absolutely freaked me out.

Not to mention Ryan Gosling. He adds a whole new level to the film.
