what are the possible punishments for drifting? i live in new york state and i've been getting into it lately but would rather avoid any kind trouble

reckless driving, exhibition of speed maybe

and if you get good, cool hover wheels

just because you slapped some lunch trays under the rear wheels of your moms civic does not make you a professional drifter.

it is in fact a shitty car, 94 civic. but it drifts really well, and my friend who races taught me how. that's how he always drives so it hasn't felt that risky, but i know that i could actually get fucked over doing it. my question is, how bad? and are burn outs illegal too?

Don't do it in busy areas. If a cop catches you and there are no people around and you're not being too crazy, he might be pretty easy on you

i mean you can drift anything if your try hard enough. spet for a relint(SP?) robin, in other news i have a doge charger it is so fucking awesome at drifting

my neighbour/friend's stepdad got a ticket for excessive noise when he was drifting in a parking lot one winter. he said he wasnt making any noise but the cop said a reckless driving ticket would be more expensive so he put noise instead.

no fuck the police?

please explain the astronomical differences between the two so i can understand why you need to be so technical and cynical about it

Well, you see, you can only properly drift when the stars are properly aligned with the drivetrain in your vehicle. Every night, at approximately 8:29.51, the stars align perfectly with Asians in Tokyo with RWD, and this is how Tokyo Dirift was filmed. Unfortunatley, the stars never align properly with Honda Civics, or FWD in general, so they can't drift. Duh. What the fuck did you think?

here we go
drifting is the idea of using steering, line and most importantly power to induce oversteer and continue to lay into the throttle to create more angle and more smoke
since a civic is fwd to get the rear end to slide out you need heavy breaking or grabbing some ebrake action to et the rear to come around
this is sliding- a no point are you using throttle to create the slide- or control your car- drifting is pretty much how sideways can you burnout, the amount of smoke you create- and how agressive your line is
sliding/= drifting
and since we are talking about drifting
/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

and to the op- most cops will give you careless or reckless driving- speeding,, also reckless endangerment of others - and your not even drifting-

And for the record, I'm not saying that FWD is the accepted way of doing things, or that this clown who started the thread should ever reproduce.

Just pointing out that as usual, there are a lot of idiots in this thread.

someone else please take care of this- im a little drunk

actually I will
that is not drifting- that is what people with front wheel drive cars like to call drifting- in no way shape or form is that remotely close to drifting-

here is how drifts are scored- turn in- speed- line and smoke- you cant get smoke from grabbing an ebrake - drifting itself is the art of a controlled burnout- please explain to me at what point does a fwd burnout in a mid-turn ebrake slide?

thats right kiddies- never fucking ever- that video is a bunch of idiots who cant drive running around inducing slides with breaking and heavy turns
and yes I can drive- quite well actually- im sure other people on here have seen my posts but just incase you havent- ill sum it up with a quick tidbit- I have driven more cars, faster cars, than you have or ever will in your entire life- I have been racing carts or cars since I was 11- I held the record for fastest lap of the full virginia international raceway for a production based street legal car until my boss beat it in the same car- In my brief period of existence on this planet I can honestly conclude that I am a much better driver than you- and most people for that matter- I know what I am talking about in general when it comes to cars, racing, AND drifting,
in the end this semi drunk rage wasted my time and I should probably go to bed now
in conclusion- you cant drift a fwd car- your a fucking retard, and should honestly kill yourself

sincerely,
Wiki-motherfucking Wiki

im going to bed I swear- but I had to on this one

Wow. I think I have just succeeded in garnering a new record for the amount of butt hurt I was able to generate with a single post.

I am glad that "being right" is such a priority for you in life.

You keep that up. It seems to be making you an extremely pleasant person.

u mad bro cause you were shown to be a full blown idiot

its ok- go sip on some breast milk and cry- it will be better in the morning- you can just forget this humiliation ever happened
calling me an idiot about cars- L-mofo-O-L. -I fart more car knowledge than you have in that whole cavern you call a head

my friend her dad loves me and owns a ferrari 458 and i have driven it of corse i didn't go over 40 because i didnt want to any chance of hitten or damaging it in any way but i have driven one.

wow everyone is hatin so hard hahhahaha. is it honestly that big a deal that i had a mistaken understanding of drifting? i'm not saying my car is any good or that i know what im talking about. but damn. i just wanted to know how punishable sliding was,
