so i just picked up a sketchbook because i recently started to draw a lot. here is a sketch (not finished, or close to being finished i would say). im open to any critiques or anything, comments in general are ok too.

ill post who its supposed to be later but bonus points to anybody who can guess it (i just want to see if it actually looks like him to anybody other than me).

again, i am a beginner drawer so dont be too harsh haha

oh i forgot to add, this was done with a mechanical .7 mm # 2 pencil. also, my camera kinda bends images. you can see if you look down by the edge of the sketchbook- it kinda curves, so keep that in mind.

thats pretty good, the only thing i'd work on is the right eye, i find its the only element that kinda brings it down

yep

also, i havent really worked too much on the right side of the face, but when i do ill definatly post it to see wha tpeople have to say. thanks for the input though

If you go to an art store and get a set of drawing pencils it'll turn out a lot nicer. The H pencils are harder and lighter, and the B pencils are softer and darker. Mess around with those and see what they do--it will bring a lot more life to your drawings.

thats pretty good man for a beginner thats awsome its just 50 cent kind of looks meaner, i dont know how to explain it more rugged i guess? more gorilla like because of his shot to the cheek

The hat is really good and I could tell it was 50 cent but the eyes are a little weird looking but overall its good a drawing

thats a great drawing for soemone just starting. you made the ear way too small though.

Here are some guidelines thatt help you draw faces, since everyone's features are in roughly the same places:

eyes are halfway between bottom of chin and top of head

bottom of nose is halfway between eyes and bottom of chin

center of mouth is halfway between bottom of nose and bottom of chin.

top of ears are usu. level with corners of eyes, bottom of earlobes level with center of mouth.

It helps if you just draw light lines first where everything roughly is, so you have a reference while ur drawing. I usually just have a thing taht looks something like this:

______

- __ __ -

_

- __ -

______

It also helps if you build up shaded areas before hard lines, because if you do shaded areas first, it brings out the shape of teh skull underneath, and then you fill in details after

skiPEI's info will def help you out. keep everything he said in mind for sure. also there is an eyewidth between the two eyes, measuring with your pencil helps alot. idk if you know what i mean when i say that, but just another suggestion.

with shading, i used to be addicted to smudging. each year as i went through school, my teachers were critical towards shading by smudging. it was hard for me to get out of it, but the shading you can achieve by putting different amounts of pressure on your pencil, i can almost guarantee, will always look better.

good luck, looks good so far.

--try making the ear a bit bigger, and really study eyes. that's the hardest part in making a person easy to identify.
