the UN has become an unneccesary beaurocracy, because that United States has become so powerful that the UN and the 'free world' draw much of their power from the US and its military. The humanitarian efforts are great, but any one of the large charities could organize that crap. Its always borrowing troops and resources from the US for 'peacekeeping.' Which never seems to work and forces US involvement in many international issues that the US govt would normally ignore. This has only hurt our image overseas. Without the UN, the US would be free to protect its interests and would be able to exert whatever pressure it deemed necessary to serve those purposes. We should kick 'em out of NY.

Really, 'peacekeeping' well i garentee if UN pulls out of Bosnia, war will erupt again. Canada mostly does peacekeeping. Where we are deployed, we are doing a damn fine job. (under UN supervision)

for whomever was defending skiinators point against tim... you do realize that the US entered world war 1 in 1917. Canada entered it in 1914 (3 year difference). US entered WWII december 1941. Canada entered WWII September 10th 1939 (2.5 years). I'm sorry but that is exactly what the US did. Sacrificed other peoples lives for 2.5 to 3 years so they could fight the war. I'm glad you attend west point (which I assume is a boarding school) it'll teach you how to be bitter and hate a world which you know nothing about. You also said that Canada is britain's bitch? hahaha. because we didn't fight a war to gain independance we're their bitch? you may not know that Canada has very very few ties to britain anymore (namely the Governor General) which are, at their core, symbolic. The Gov.General basically participates in ceremonies and signs for the queen. Was it good that the US. killed its own people and other people to come to the same end result as Canada? (-not to mention how it created unfounded nationalism and the illusion of a 'free-world' of which they are the only ones.) What makes you think that America wouldn't put you in a war where the same result can be achived politically.

As for Iraq I myself don't want to fight for the reason that the Bush administration hasn't given clear evidence of any Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, but if there was I feel that Iraq would be a threat to the security of the US, Canada, or whoever else, therefore creating a reason for us to disarm them
