Dr. NS: Snapping Hip Syndrome

Hi NS,
I've always had loose joints. Recently my hip started to feel loose on the right side. Well it was fine for a few months but of course, right when I start skiing it becomes a problem. I've researched this problem and it's not too serious, It's caused by tendons snapping over across the bone of your hip back and forth. I'm supposed to stretch it, ice it, and take it easy for a bit. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem? It would be great to get some first hand advice.
Thanks guys

happens to me too, theres no issue here, just comes w age.. my rents are doctors, this is the answer they givedid

have any advice on fixing and preventing it? other than stretching, icing, and taking ibuprofen. Thanks man +karma

I got this at the end of cross country season this year. It really hurt but the trainer said that it was nothing that would affect me in the long term. I felt it whenever i ran, but when i stopped running, it stopped hurting. I only feel it really rarely when i've been in an awkward position for a while, now. I don't feel it skiing which is really lucky.

i had that for a while. it actually got to the point where if i was skiing and would land a jump and compress to absorb impact and bend at my waist, i couldn't straighten my leg again; i had to pull my knee up to my chest to get the tendon to pop back into place. basically all i did was stretch it a bunch and didnt ski for like two weeks and it's been fine since. it occasionally makes a really loud pop, like if you were to crack your knuckles but like times 1000. other than that, no problems.
