Dr. NS, cast problems

So I broke and tore two ligaments in my thumb a few weeks back and got a standard wrist to elbow cast.

Now the swelling doesn't seem to have gone down at all, it still hurts pretty bad on and off, and my thumb tip and exposed fingers are all look like they are bruising in the knuckles

Is this normal? I do go into the doctors tomorrow for a check up on it though.

As i have never torn ligaments in my hand i dont really know but every injury I have ever had in my life including completely blowing out my knee, the swelling has noticeably gone down after a few weeks. thats the only weird part, bruising is totes normal because when you tear ligaments they fucking gush blood on yo inside. The back of my knee was purple for 4 or 5 months after the initial injury

Are you moving it much? Swelling with an injury like that can stick around for quite the whiles. Ice what you can, take some ibuprofen and don't stick a fork it in.

I have a torn ligament that connects my ulna to my wrist. It's forever damaged. When I went for surgery on it, it got swollen for awhile. Keep the movement down.

If it makes you feel any better, I've had a torn ligament for the past 4 years in the wrist, it still hurts and swells on and off occasion.

i have torn ligaments in my thumb as well. happened about a week ago. went to the docs today to remove my splint and get a new cast...indeed my thumb was still swollen and quite bruised
