DPS loses biggest investor, over half the factory laid off.

Trying to stay anonymous here for legal reasons but DPS likely won’t exist much longer. Was an employee there for the past two years and it’s been an ever revolving mess of poor management. Over half the factory was laid off today. They’re applying for a new license, starting from scratch, and all the current investors got screwed out of their money. Will try to post more updates as I hear more info but it’s likely gonna be an RIP to DPS.

RIP and kudos for the update. Hope this isn’t true, but common place in this industry…

People really don’t understand how difficult the ski hardgoods game is. It’s a very delicate balance between r&d, marketing, and sales. If the entire team isn’t 100% aligned there’s gonna be an issue.

I considered throwing long term money at faction during their heyday and am SO glad I didn’t.

Luckily for me, around the same Amer purchased Armada for only $4M. Their yearly sales were shocking. Considering todays inflation, I can’t imagine how thin margins have become since then….

Good luck in the future! Don’t ever be afraid to lead with DPS on your resume! There is serious street cred and opportunity for people who’ve been a part of, and understand the mechanics of why and how a business fails….

Whew thank the lord, I believe the Chinese DPS factory is where Vishnus are made

They can't close the chinese factory because it would be unethical to leave children jobless

Hey so I'm Chinese and used to work at ski brand factory, they actually paid me pretty well I think it was 2$ an hour! When the company went under, they gave me a new job right away!

Yup full stack is not in a good spot right now

from what I’ve heard

mismanagement is why most companies fail.

here’s hoping we get access to low cost pow sticks soon!

mismanagement isn't why ski companies fail

greedy accountant managers isn't why brands like armada and 4frnt were effectively sold for nothing

Razor thin margins exist that are dependent on things out of your control like exchange rates

Went and checked their prices, now I know why Ive never seen a pair of those skis before, 2000 dollars, jesus christ.

That’s a bummer, they just signed a good homie of mines brother a little bit ago. He left a k2 deal of some sort for it I believe. Hella unfortunate. Thoughts to the workers and athletes tryna get it through this.

Super sad that rich tech bros can't ski for free :(

Except for half a factory’s worth of well trained and passionate craftsmen and women.

You do know being "fired" and being "executed" aren't the same things, right?

Hope you realize it was the factory workers barely making a living wage who were let go. Upper management who made the constant poor decisions that led to this all still have their salaried jobs.

guys all dps skis totally suck. do not buy the koala 103 in 189. i will take one for the team and buy them all once they're on closeout. you're welcome.

They won't have jobs when the company is out of business. DPS is a tiny ski company compared to Rossignol, K2, Salomon, Atomic, etc. I doubt there are a lot of upper management positions at DPS just getting rich off the backs of factory workers. What percentage of DPS skis are made in Utah vs their Chinese factory that they don't own? DPS isn't Walmart or some other large company that can downsize lower lever employees and be ok. Everyone will be gone once the ski industry continues to tank.

Never heard of them I guess because I’m not a dentist and I don’t ski the devils cocaine, anything outside the park is a waste of time anyways

I had to look it up a few different ways just to find their site, I had never heard of them either.
