DPS Koala 111

Im thinking about picking this up.

I only have noodlesoft skis, and is looking for something playfull and stiff around 108-112.

I cant however find them in any store close to me. Live in scandinavia.

Anyone checked them out?

while I have not skied the 111, I do have tons of time on the first gen 103 and 119, as well as the current 118. All are good skis that could be great if they made them a bit more compliant and damp, aka less dry snow specific.

Their main strenghts are dialed shapes across the range, their biggest con a somewhat off flex pattern wrt their weight. By the latter I mean that I find them to a bit too dry snow specific. For instance, the 103 either needs to gain weight to support their current flex pattern (to boost through stuff) or become more damp to absorb more imho.

The 118 is a noticably easier ski to ski than the OG119 - which is kind of a beast in variable, especially in dense snow. The 118s lighter shovels make them easier to throw around and their tails are way easier to shut down. The still feel kinda planky underfoot. Both shapes are dialed. Both are great in dry snow, but become a bit less refined the denser the snow becomes.

The 103 is good, but too stiff considering their kinda low weight - which results in a deflection fest in difficult snow for my 175cm/70kg ass on 184s. While the new 103 and 111 is probably a step in the right direction with their new flex patterns and rocker lines (I do not buy that they've changed the construction, the original 103 do not feel like a bamboo ski) - like the 118 was for the 119 for most skiers - I still do think that skis like Rossignol Sender Free 110s will outperform the Koala. Why? Damper, more advanced construction - ironically at the same or more likely than not lower price.

DerUte / Roxee Sports will still carry DPS in Norway as far as I know.

I would get Sender Free 110s and mount them 2 back - that is what I decided to do.

The blister bros seem to like it so it may be heavy, damp, and stiff to someone coming off noodle soft type skis. What are you riding right now?

I got the m free 99, line outline, and Whitewalker 121. These I use the most.

All DPS skis come with a boat, a dentists license, and a high-end golf club membership. They will also make you more prone to cutting people off and bragging about stupid shit

It's definitely on the stiffer end of the spectrum for ~110 mm wide freestyle skis.

Bought second hand, i think the 103 is just the narrower version of the 111. Seems to be a a bit soft and damp, not noodley tho. The dude i bought them from was too short and light to butter them.
